+1 Guess it’s time for the mob to take on these young men and dox them.

I was about to say “they’re nothing if not consistent. They totally will.” Then I remembered the boys are black. So no, they won’t touch that with a 10 foot pole.

99% certain she's on paid leave. No harm, no foul. This will have no impact on her career, given the evidence her lawyer provided.

Frankly, she's probably welcoming the paid time off until this moves out of the news cycle (another week or so).

I'm sure she's home thinking, "What a lucky break!"

Thank you for that. You seem quite sane for DCUM. I’m just waiting for some whacko to move the goalpost yet again. There’s gotta be a way they can reframe it so that they don’t have to admit they were wrong and still make the PA look like she was the aggressor, right?

PP here. Well, sure. There will always be people like that.

Personally, when I saw the video, and how she was acting…the initial account of the story seemed legitimate. But I recognized that they had started taping after the beginning of the confrontation, and that there was context missing. I had thought the missing context was that he was standing there about to reserve the bike when she strolled up and got on, and apparently I was wrong.

Shouldn't common sense tell you a pregnant woman just getting off a long day of work isn't likely to play such games? Really?

No, “common sense” doesn’t tell me how people will or won’t behave towards strangers. Have you met people?

Yes. It's shocking that people like you sit on juries and lack basic common sense and are driven by biases and fantastical thinking. You so wanted to believe the unbelievable here. Why? There was enough information here that things weren't as they appeared.

You are not grasping my point here. People act in nonsensical ways every day. They vote against their best interests. So, no, I don’t assume that every person I see is thinking or operating in the way that I would, because people are different. Understanding that fact does not equate to a lack of common sense.

Then people like you, who can't figure people out, should be the very last to rush to judgment and demand people be named and shamed and fired based on snippets of video.

Um…I didn’t? I’m like one of two people here who was like, “Hey, I thought this one thing at first but am admitting I was wrong”. I certainly never thought she should be fired.

Save the outrage and work on your critical thinking skills instead.

I'm good. You're the one in need of self reflection.

I’m the one who’s capable of admitting when I’m wrong, so yeah…I’m good 👍

You’re not good because you’re part of the problem which is make rash judgments, call for extreme ostracizing and then opps I was wrong. Instead of waiting for all the information. Disgusting.

Dude c’mon, you’re not helping our side with this. They admitted they were wrong. Hopefully they’ve learned a valuable lesson, and won’t rush to judgment moving forward. You can’t continue to attack someone who admits they were wrong.

Bruh, no dude. It is absolute privileged to just think someone can make these allegations and then throw up their hands and be like Oh well I was wrong and they’re all good. WHY?! That’s it? GMAFB.

yeah, maybe self reflection wouldn’t be such a bad idea. And enabling people to do this stuff by giving them an out isn’t great either.

Honest question: for those on this thread who are admitting that they were wrong, what else would you like them to do? Seriously? Presumably, that self-reflection isn't really something you're going to be able to witness, so...do you want them to write an essay for you? What "out" is it that you think these people are being given? The "out" of being wrong on an internet message board without consequence? Because, as far as I can tell, no one on this board did anything other than that - they expressed their opinions, but as far as we know they didn't doxx anyone or fire anyone or write in and ask that someone be fired, etc. So what punishment do you think would be appropriate for someone who is wrong on the internet, especially where they are admitting that they were wrong?

We're all just expressing our opinions, are we not? The jump to judgement people went on and on for tens of pages. Holding a mirror up to their faces for a moment won't damage them.

The hospital never said they placed her on leave. They said "the provider is currently out on leave and will remain on leave pending a review." This is careful wording, and I think there is some chance that it was a mutual decision for her to go on paid leave until the situation was resolved.

One reason I think this is the case is that her lawyer has popped up with these receipts. If this version of events is accurate, then of course she knows what actually happened and would have some idea that there would be proof/witnesses to back it up. In which case, it would be smart for her to stay home until the truth is out so that she doesn't have to deal with potential harassment going back to work. If her lawyers statement bears out, she'll be able to walk back into work without harassment, gossip, rumors hanging over her head.

Also, learning she is 6 months pregnant -- if something like this happened to me when I was 6 months pregnant, I'd need a minute. I would not feel particularly safe in the world and I'd want to hole up until I felt more safe. She's alleging that they forced the bike back into the dock with her on it, plus we also see in the video the physicality of the guy forcing her off the bike with his body, and them heckling her and pointing at her. I'd feel very shaken up, even if there wasn't also an internet mob calling me a racist. I'd want the week off, too.

I’m not the person you’re responding to but I’m equally disgusted by those people. A casual “oh yeah I guess I was wrong. I’ll admit it. See, aren’t I a big person” after destroying someone’s life does not absolve them. At an absolute minimum I’d expect those people to be saying PUBLICLY that they were wrong (not hiding behind an anonymous website) and to be publicly going after the men who assaulted her and try to do everything they can to get them consequences for their behavior. And also to reserve judgement next time and also seek therapy for their hate and rage that they feel so they don’t feel so compelled to take it out on innocent victims again.

It's impossible because the site is anonymous. Who knows which posters were posting the most egregiously offensive things about this woman, and which were just asking questions, and which were inclined to distrust her but didn't totally rush to judgement. No one knows, so the back and forth over this is pointless.

I'm glad some people are reassessing the conclusions they initially drew that her lawyer has come forward with what appears to be proof of a different version of events. Though I do think it's fair to say: next time maybe don't draw conclusions when you have so few facts, and maybe be more willing to give people the benefit of the doubt even when they've been labeled a "Karen" by angry people on Twitter. Maybe reserve judgment.

I apologize to this woman. I wasn’t involved in doxxing her, but I believed the videographer’s commentary. Let’s keep this thread active so people like me can see the updates on the documentation of what transpired.

Being an apologist for mobs isn’t a good look. They can dish it out but can’t take it. It is so disingenuous. Some people don’t have the luxury of throwing accusations around and then just saying “may bad” and expect they’re off. One poster said I’m sorry for being wrong and acted as if they’re all good. NBD. That’s the attitude that is the problem. Go for the kill, twist that knife and then opps, act like nothing is wrong if you say you’re sorry.

People get accused of things they didn’t do all the time. Now the internet makes it possible to hound these people relentlessly. What if this happened to you? Look at the UVA student who is suing UVA over something similar? Look at the kid who liked themself at Lawrenceville who was the subject of many false rumors. Remember the kid on the school trip here wearing the MAGA hat who was accused of harassing a Native American man but videos showed otherwise.Actions, all actions, have consequences.

people need to stop these knee jerk reactions and immediately trying to ruin lives. So no, someone shouldn’t just get a pass because they admit they’re wrong. They should learn from this to have better judgment next time, because next time people could be accusing them.

Appreciate the level-headed take here. PP and the earlier posters calling for blood are two sides of the same coin, so doubt it will make much difference to them.

What those who were wrong should do is to permanently retire their pitchforks and stop participating in the dehumanization of any groups of people. Also they should start being VERY critical of anyone who invites them to channel their rage toward attacks on easy scapegoats.

But... most won't learn. Periods of revolutionary mob fervor historically have just needed to burn themselves out. Then people recover their senses. Until the next time societal pressures make scapegoating groups you can get away with demonizing sound like a good, right, true, and just thing to do.

The internet is relentless. Tik Tok videos showing the local news going to this woman’s apartment, banging on her door, then telling her neighbors about her and that she lived there

Then the videos call on people to contact her employer to have her fired, to the mayor to have her arrested and for citbike to also do something.

THIS is what you’re contributing to. I hope you can live with that.

They can love with it because they are convinced of the nobility of their intentions. That's the justification for "punching up," and white women are scarily admitted to be people anymore.. What we all really need to do is to stop punching in the first place.

It's not two sides. The people calling for blood literally went after the PA. Nobody is going after anonymous posters who can't tell real tears from fake tears demanding their jobs.
