I think you may be unpleasantly surprised at how the "justice system" works for the wealthy and connected.

At least the widespread publicity will come up in a Google search and may curtail a bit her access to IRL victims.

She's got connections in Virginia, but that may not translate to Federal court and her demographics may work against her at the Federal level. A Caucasian Disney Princess sentenced to a decade in Federal prison without any dispensation would feed the appetite of Critical Race Theory advocates.

That's not a thing in federal district court, especially DDC. She'll get offered a plea based on the facts of the case. If no plea, she'll get a trial before a jury of people from the DC pool. She'll be sentenced based on the sentencing guidelines. Neither the US Attorney nor the judge will GAF who her parents are/were, and even if the criminal defense attorney is well respected, that won't make a difference (although of course her case will be better presented if the person is good). There will probably be some sympathy among both the USAO office and the DDC judges for her ex, who is probably a couple degrees of separation from them ....so that might weight a tiny bit in favor of trying to get a plea that will keep this whole mess out of the public eye any more than it has to be.

The enticement charge has a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years, but it's somewhat less explicit than the photos and transporting a minor charges. I think the government would drop the other charges in exchange for a guilty plea for the enticement charge. Ten years in prison is a long time, so she may choose to spend every last nickel on trying for a not guilty by reason of insanity verdict, since it seems like she has some mental health issues.

Where is the evidence that she has mental health issues? Or mental health issues outside of those anyone who wants to molest kids would have?

From previous comments in this thread from those who claim to know her and her family. She may have documented evidence of being treated by a psychiatrist and can most certainly pay a psychiatrist to declare her insane. John Hinkley came from a prominent family and has now a free man after trying to assassinate the President, wounding him and three others and spent his sentence in a hospital. She's facing a minimum of 15 years in prison and could be sentenced to life in prison. She might as well expend her wealth on trying to escape this fate, as it won't benefit her in prison. If Hinkley can get out from under trying to assassinate the President, then it's not beyond the pale to think that Hoppe can not do the same with these charges. There aren't any victims in Hoppe's case. It's all based on her state of mind.

I remember learning in law school that after Hinkley the threshold for asserting not guilty by reason of insanity was made much higher as a result of that case and the public reaction to it, even though he did seem bay shit crazy to me.

Women sex abusers are far more uncommon, so this case is more interesting and complex. Was it combination of mental illness, possibly triggered by MS, coupled with her own history of sexual abuse? Was this the first time she engaged in this behavior or did she abuse children previously? Was she reliving abuse she experienced as a child? We don't know the answers to any of these questions.

I hope that as this case unfolds, we can learn more about what happened so that abusers like her can't harm vulnerable children.

Coming up with all those theories of 'what made her do it', does, on some level, act as finding an excuse for her.

Some acts, planning on raping an 8-year old and likely having a history of sexually abusing children among them, are so vile that this act is really all I need to know about that person. I don't care if she got a mean case of the sads or how complex a person she is.

I agree. I don't remember who said it, I think I heard it in the show. Manhunter: I weep for the childhood she had, but as an adult she did some awful things and needs to pay for it.

how is this thread 72 pages?????

There is no good and evil. There is only this human condition, and it includes mental illnesses of all sorts. Psychopaths. Personality disorders. Traumatized people. Neurodivergent people. Etc. In my opinion almost all crime is a result of problems in the brain.

Me saying this does not make it "less bad" I want EHH in prison/asylum the rest of her life. Nothing is an excuse.

Some of us want explanations though, like this female was bipolar, maybe traumatized, privileged, etc. It helps make the nonsensical make sense. It also helps in sense of patterns. The science of crime -- you look at serial killers for example, and come up with patterns. Helps you find them, and catch the next one, because they have quirks sometimes, but they enact mostly the same patterns as their own selves or others.

The reason this is 72 pages is no one has a template for this one.

She may well have IRL victims, it is unclear how much that will be investigated.

The posts I’ve seen are from people hypothesizing that she might be manic depressive. I’ve not seen anyone post that the knew this to be true, were aware of her having received therapy, or even stating what she was like when she was younger.

Which is partly why I doubt she was actually wealthy. If so, I would have assumed she would have had her nose fixed.

The old money, high society, generational wealth types don’t always care too much about physical appearance. It’s a holdover from British aristocracy. They’re horse-faced and they don’t particularly care.

Horse-faced? I dare you to try and over generalize about any other group of people. Apparently, the British are fair game in your world.

My horse is far better looking than Eleanor, but it's true that old money people don't go in for plastic surgery.

That said, this tangent about her looks is gross. It's her actions that are reprehensible.

Wait what you respond to her looks then criticize others who do it as gross 🤮

That’s quite unfortunate.
