More Alexandria crime - teen critically stabbed at Bradlee McDonalds

Anonymous
Yet again more violent crime in Alexandria. This time a teen student was stabbed during a fight at the Bradlee Center McDonalds at lunchtime. When I drove by there was an incredible number of police. I have heard it started as a fight among 40-50 students, teen gets stabbed and kids keep fighting.

This is same McDonalds where a ACHS student was shot in the fall. There are conflicting reports whether today’s victim survived.

Both Minnie Howard and ACHS went into secure building mode which meant any student that wasn’t in the building was locked out. I saw several groups of students wandering around Braddock in the rain, apparently with no where to go. It’s not uncommon for 9th graders to be outside because many take classes up the street at ACHS and walk back and forth from Minnie Howard.

Jeff, please don’t remove this thread. For some reason threads re Alexandria seem to get locked or removed because we can’t discuss what is happening here. Not sure what makes Alexandria different than other places in the DMV and we can’t post about. So I hope this can stay. I live here, I have a rising 9th grader and I’m scared to let her even take the us to Potomac Yard with her friends or to send her to school next year.

The crime isn't random. It's usually a long-standing beef between a few families that plays out in this manner.

At least it wasn’t a shooting. I’d much rather see these kids using knives instead of guns.

Oh how sad! I can't believe you think this way. The kid is dead!

Wow. A student is murdered during the school day when SOLs are taking place and you are glad that it's not a gun and a knife? A child is dead. I'm an ACPS parent of two students and I live walking distance to ACHS. I am WFH today and I am absolutely heartbroken and sick. This could be any of our children. If you think as a bystander they couldn't be shot or stabbed, you are wrong. Yes, it appears to be certain kids, maybe involved in crime or not, but a child is dead. We need to enact some common sense policies so this doesn't happen again. Thoughts and prayers are not enough. G-d watch over and protect this child's parents and family.

There are videos circulating of the aftermath. There is literally only one police officer trying to save him and control the crowd. That officer really, REALLY tried. So sad.

I don't know what's going on with these kids. Tragic!

Yikes. I lived in that area for years and it always seemed so safe! So sorry to hear about this death and the trauma people who were there experienced. I hope the officer who responded and everyone who needs it will get support.

Bystanders are not randomly stabbed. Would your kid stick around at this McDonalds once they arrived and saw 40 other people there, several of whom I am sure your kid could identify as troublemakers? I hope the hell NOT. This was not random. These people all knew each other. What exactly the background is, I don't know. But this is a far cry from random violence. This is troubled kids fighting each other. Help your kid identify the troubled kids, and help keep them busy enough they aren't going to McDonalds with 40 other kids.

This doesn't mean we shouldn't do something to deal with the violence at ACHS. Something needs to be done, because even troubled kids deserve a safe school.
