| She seems great and I am more aligned with her on a number of issues. Yet, no one seems to think of her as having a real chance against Mendelson. What am I missing? |
| Yeah she seems pretty good except is extremely Covid Conscious and wanted to keep DC schools closed and gungho about about a virtual option even this year, so hesitant to vote for her. |
| I follow her on twitter and she calls her kids monsters. I know she means it in a joking way but I still really don't like it. I probably wouldn't have voted for her anyway but funny how something like that really turned me off on her. |
| I knew her in law school and she is brilliant and kind. Very clean hands and exactly what the DC Council needs. She doesn't want to keep the schools closed - she wanted a virtual option for immuno-suppressed kids. She is COVID-conscious, but so are most of the people in the neighborhood she represents. Many parents of young children (particularly those who cannot be vaccinated) are COVID-conscious. Phil has literally done nothing in 10+ years. Time for new blood. |
Yea. Mommy-shaming is deeply ingrained in society, so it's not surprising you are reacting this way. Women are supposed to smile beatifically and say "my little angels" all the time. FFS. |
| Where are her kids in school? |
| Look at the endorsements. She is another hard-left progressive of the Charles Allen, Brianne Nadeau, Robert White ilk. No meaningful positions on addressing the rising crime rates in the city except for "violence prevention programs". No private sector business experience at all (I do not count being a junior associate at a large law firm as being exposed to the reality of meeting a payroll). I just read through her naive and one-sided view on housing in the District. Apparently it has not occurred to her that part of the reason that landlords have difficulty maintaining buildings is that DC's absurdly one-sided tenant-friendly eviction and rent control laws make it difficult to (a) make enough money on older buildings in order to make needed capital and maintenance improvements and (b) evict tenants who trash apartments and create pest, mold and other issues which affect other units. I would like council people who are actually able to think through issues, instead of reacting to everything with knee-jerk bleeding heart liberalism. |

| I am voting for her. I think the assumption that she doesn't have a chance is based in the power of incumbency. It's very very hard to unseat an incumbent. I think mendelson stinks, but there's no scandal or other high-profile reason for people who otherwise aren't paying attention to vote against him. So they won't vote or will default to voting for the name they vaguely recognize. |
This is by far the least off putting thing about her, are you kidding me? I’d love some new blood on the council but any support at all for a virtual option at this point in the pandemic (beyond what’s always existed for kids going through chemo etc) is a complete and utter dealbreaker to me. It says that she’s unable to differentiate what’s popular on Twitter from what’s good policy in reality. Actually tbh a few of her other policy positions strike me that way too. |
| I've known Mendelson since his first election back in the early 90's. He's dead to me now, since I learned that he backed the Old Hardy lease and then picked the Lab School's chief lobbyist as his campaign treasurer. |
| I agree with PPs that Mendelson hasn’t done much in recent memory. He’s a long time DC politician and wants to stay that way. I’ll be voting for Palmer. |
She's really intelligent, has the right political chops, and is sexy as hell. |
Boo hoo, too bad for you. Rent control is popular policy in DC and is going nowhere. Nobody said you had to like it. |

It feels similar to voting for Janeese Lewis George and that has turned out really well so far. I don't have to agree with every policy position, but I value genuine interaction, willingness to listen and (gasp) incorporate people feedback. Erin Palmer seems similar.
Also, I know and trust some of the people who support her. I don't think we can go wrong here. |
