UVM 2026

UVM seems to be very popular this year. Boatloads of kids from MoCo going, not sure about DC or NoVa. Is this something new?

Applications were way up from our W school. I think politically and with pandemic, New England regained some of its lost appeal. UVM is also a solid safety for good students and has good and transparent merit aid. I’m encouraging my DC to apply. Burlington is also fun, but cold.

I had to google UVM.

Lucky kids - it's a fabulous place for undergrad.

It's all over the DC acceptances Instagram accounts posted to the thread in DC Public Schools. Seemed like disproportionate numbers but I can think of worse places to kill 4 years than Burlington.

Boatloads of DC kids applying and attending as well.

It's funny how certain schools seem to be hot. What causes that? It does seem like a nice school but why did so many students apply and go to UVM this year?

Another one that seems to very popular is UCLA. Is it just me or does there seem to be more acceptances to UCLA than in years past?

My daughter applied and was accepted with merit. When I pushed her to explain why she picked it as one of her safeties, she said the UVM student body is known on TikTok as having cool fashion sense and that is “low key” why she applied. 🙄

The marketing mail from them was gorgeous. Beautiful buildings, beautiful fall scenery. But it’s cold, and quite expensive for a public school. My daughter was a accepted with very little merit.

We visited over spring break. Fabulous school and the people were incredibly friendly. Burlington was a fun place to visit. DD decided it wasn’t the right fit for her after visiting, but all of us loved the school and the area.

Definitely seems to have surged in popularity in our VA HS. Also, CU Boulder.

Burlington is beautiful.

I think the costs savings of oos publics, especially if merit, over private schools is becoming more recognized. Plus the appeal of Honors Colleges.

Crappy schools.

None of the kids from the best private schools apply there. At least none I have ever seen. My senior said she’s never even heard anyone mention the school.
