Very Orwellian of Secretary Mayorkas.

| Foreign propaganda is absolutely a threat to our national security. |
So you think it’s appropriate for people to try to manipulate our electoral process by deliberately spreading misinformation? |
His comments yesterday should be cited by this new board as disinformation. Anyone who believes the border is being "effectively managed" is living in a world of disinformation. |
| What's the difference between disinformation and verifiable lies? Have they defined the scope of disinformation? |
And who determines what’s disinformation? |
Well I guess that’s the point. You are questioning facts, as Putin intended. |
Disinformation - anything that isn't politically expedient. I don't see how any action by the "governance board" can pass first amendment muster aside from the few carve-outs such as direct incitement to violence. Maybe all they will be doing is publishing "facts as the government sees it". If that's the case, it's essentially an official political propaganda machine by the current administration. |
| It’s too bad that slightly less far right wing sites haven’t covered this yet, because this is an absolute necessity, especially with the GOP spreading as much dis- and misinformation as they can. |
+1 This world of “fake news” and just making up lies to suit the GOP is damaging the fabric of our society. Republicans won’t even agree on objective facts, not so much because they don’t know, but because they enjoy stirring the pot. |
Especially when it's used domestically by political parties to distract from their own shortcomings. |
| Orwellian. Totally Orwellian. |

What a surprise that the Pizzagate-spreading, antisemitic, white nationalist, Putin fanboy Jack Posobiec wouldn't like this. https://archive.ph/iOreU https://rollcall.com/2018/07/18/rand-paul-retweeted-pizzagate-conspiracy-theorist/ |
