Full time working mom of two. Every morning no matter how much time I think I have, by the time I've wrangled my two young children out of the house, the only thing I end up having for breakfast is a granola/power bar I grab to eat on the road.
Any suggestions for fast/easy breakfast that is reasonably healthy, not packed with sugar, etc? |
| What are your kids eating? Mine has an egg on a mini bagel with fruit most days so I just do myself an egg with cheese/spinach at the same time. |
| A hand full of nuts and a piece of fruit would be better. Why can’t your kids get up earlier? And where is your DH in this? |
Some variation of Cheerios, yogurt, store bought mini muffins, banana. |
Single parent. Nuts are a good idea. |
| Hard boil eggs on the weekend. I eat two eggs and a piece of toast in the car. |
| I like a piece of sourdough with some raw almond butter. |
Thanks! I've done sourdough english muffins with PB on some occasions, but inconsistently. Still interested in other ideas for a little variety. |

I scramble a couple eggs and wrap them in a tortilla with some salsa and cheddar cheese.
Sometimes a waffle (toaster) with PB and honey. |
| Get rid of the mini muffins and Cheerios and make eggs for the kids, or toast with PB…. Whole grain bagel with PB….. oatmeal etc. All of u can eat the same thing at the same time with minimal variations. |
oh dear lord, I'm not interested in changing what my kids eat, one of whom has sensory issues, underweight, uses Cheerios for iron, and is followed by a pediatric nutritionist who is on board with what he eats. Kids eat PB or sunbutter for lunch quite often and often have eggs for dinner instead of breakfast, and an abundance of fruits and veggies moreso than other kids, so I'm fine with what they eat for breakfast. Just looking for options for myself. Mornings are hectic and looking for fast options. Hard boiled eggs was great, I can start doing that on weekends, a handful of nuts is great, thank you to the person who suggested that. |

Hard boiled egg, sliced apple, a couple of small slices of sharp cheddar will cover your bases for protein/fiber/calcium.
Can you mix up some avocado toast for you and the kids on wholegrain bread? It's one of our family favorites and we eat the same thing, so issue there. |
Thanks - I'm digging the idea for hard boiled eggs, need to get into making them on weekends (how long do they last in the fridge). Kids are fine with what they eat already, just want options for myself. |
I wasn’t judging what your kid eat. Was just thinking it would streamline your mornings to all eat the same thing. |
Got it, thank you, definitely a bit sensitive on the kid food front. I think the kids are good with what they eat, and even fairly independent at grabbing their stuff so not a particular concern or causing issues for me in terms of time. |
