This was in motion from last year when they accepted Nationals. ECNL would not have 5 teams from MI in the Midwest conference. so starting 25/26 one would have to go. Hawks would not give up their magic teams so it came down to Liverpool and Midwest and Midwest lost because of weaker performance over their 6 age groups (I don't believe any age group has qualified for champions league). Immediately after the couches conference in Las Vegas they moved their tryouts from June to March 1st to secure as many players as they can from leaving. Even this morning their website and all social media advertised ecnl and RL teams for 2025/26. A club excited to move to the GA would announce this well in advance and not move up their tryouts and cling to ecnl logo's. No club, team, or family in the ecnl view going to the GA as a step up. They've been demoted to Tier 2 (some could argue Tier 3).

So you may know Doug but he is telling you his side. They did not get kicked out. They got sick of Doug’s ego, as are a few other ECNL Midwest teams, and decided to make the move. Think about what you said, Doug would not give up his second team, which is terrible, for the good of the conference. Instead of parroting a biased source best to sit this one out. Interestingly enough, Doug may be losing his 2nd team regardless.

Seriously who the F is Doug

Actually, the Hawks have fielded amazing championship teams and a ton of D1 players BUT the talk was for years they had stopped nearby rival clubs for years from joining -- which helped them get ALL the talent in this area. Now, with the Nationals also in metro Detroit, top tier talent in this area have some choices in terms of ECNL. Jags are the big metro Detroit GA club.

Side note, their boys side, the wolves, are MLSN, because they wisely split themselves up to be able to choose the league best for their kids. So, who knows, maybe the Hawks go GA some day! (They would not hesitate if they ever thought that became the top league).

Midwest United ranked higher than Hawks 2 in all but one age group. So why would ECNL kick out a stronger team that is not even in same metro area? Doesn’t make any sense.

Midwest was bottom of the barrel ecnl (again do your own research to prove me right, all right there on the ECNL website). Their you team do well until lose their best players to ecnl teams in the older age groups

Who cares???
They are an ECNL club that came to GA
McLean was an ECNL club that came to GA
How are you going to spin NVa/Loudon?

Look at Tampa Bay United ECNL, they suck. They still are an ECNL club.

Maybe Midwest wanted to align MLSN boys with GA girls? Probably several factors working here.

We are confident the GA will offer our players strong league competition, valuable national showcase opportunities, and a clear pathway to college soccer. The GA's recent partnership with MLS NEXT will also unify our boys and girls academies under one umbrella.”

Wonder how many other ECNL/MLSN clubs will want to move their girls to GA to be under one umbrella”

they got kicked out of the ECNL. they had no choice

I highly doubt they were the worst ECNL club.

There are tons of worse ECNL clubs that could’ve got the boot.

they did. one of my friends daughter plays for them. too many teams in the area after nationals got in last year.

Yes, that part doesn't make sense, because West MI is rising in soccer. and Midwest is a big part of that They are building an 8,500-seat stadium in Grand Rapids in hopes of getting a pro team -- which could be USL (Midwest United is a team, btw) OR who knows what.

IMHO MLSN has their foot on ecnls neck.
The last play Ecnl can make right now is bring the girls with GA/ECNLb over and bring over the clubs with ecnlg/MLSN.

Other than that, I don’t see what else they can do

They can move to SY registration in 2025 and scoop up Q3/Q4 players from ga and mls next

since GA is a second tier league, they won't be able to do much. aspire will align with girls who want to play in coed leagues after highschool. they will have to work with mlsnext. they will keep birth year to align with pros. ECNL will continue to be the best league and align with colleges
