when allegations become the scarlet letter |
like what? Karen? |
From the Washington Post article: “ McCullough also described a pattern of “racially insensitive” remarks by Burke, including an incident at a small preseason dinner when Burke used the n-word in front of her while trying to describe how he had defended his sister from racist abuse.” https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2021/08/11/richie-burke-nwsl-spirit-verbal-abuse/ Keep defending him though. |
so he didn't call her it? here's a bit of advice: don't listen to young people. they throw that word EVERYWHERE |
Let’s be adults. Read the quote again and explain to me what the quote means |
| ^-- "Some people did some things" |
Are you serious? |
Please don't waste your time. I hate the soccer forum. |
Here is some advice, if you are a white man, and in particular a white man in a position of authority, don’t ever use that word. Be smart enough to talk about something else. |
I do not wish to defend him because I'm in the "screamers/abusers are bad people and bad coaches" camp - but allegations of racism are more often than not BS these days. Given the way that story is written, I very much doubt he said anything that most people would find offensive. |
| Who read the WaPo article linked above? Did anyone else wonder if the fourth unnamed player who was bullied was Mal Pugh? One of the other anonymous players specifically reported that he yelled "You'll never be on the national team again" as one of his tactics. |
Interesting that Spirit didn’t take his side. I also find it more believable that he did say these things considering he clearly has no filter. What is more likely that a screaming diarrhea of the mouth 1950’s style Coach said a racists thing or he has enough self awareness to not say a racists thing? |

imagine the type of youth coaches RB had growing up in scotland... and probably modeled his style after.
What was scottish football like in the 60's and 70's? Too soft for ya? |
Yup. |
| or wherever he's from... Liverpool I think. My bad. Liverpool in the 60's and 70's. |
