BRYC talk

Before SYC merged with McLean, they applied for MLS Next for their boys program and applied for the Girls Academy League. GAL rejected the girls and leadership expected MLS Next to reject them as well, so SYC approached McLean and decided to go with the 'merged rosters' approach but the unexpected happened: SYC Boys got a full slate of MLS Next teams.

So now, SYC Boys have the potential to play in MLS Next and ECNL with 3rd-team level players in CCL (girls first team). Very few SYC Girls were able to make the VA Union 'merged rosters' team; several have left. BRYC may survive a little more than a year but time will tell. If MLS Next survives, SYC will not join ECNL because they don't care about the girls program; this is why the SYC Commissioner's daughter plays for Arlington.

Former commissioner

Probably a good time to update the photos then

MLS Next is a fictitious elite league for boys.

If FCV planning to merge with BRYC to get ECNL they would have to act quickly and take over their teams for fall. If they wait a year to play in ECNL there is no guarantee that BRYC will retain its status.

"Retain its status." Please tell me any club (name included) that has ever been removed or lost its girls ECNL status. This goes out to anyone to answer.

It is the plan of BW to move boys and girls to nvufc and take to ecnl status with it.

The ECNL had a town hall this year where they discussed plans to potentially remove ECNL status from struggling clubs and elevate high performing ECNL-R teams. You can google it.

I watched that town hall start to finish and they absolutely did not say that. They referenced using ECNL RL as a proving ground for clubs who want to get into ECNL.
