Would you eat out with unvaccinated kids

If I can't take my kids to a restaurant, what is the point of me being vaccinated? I'm high risk (enough that I *quit my job* due to COVID risk when my boss tried to force me back into the office). I'm getting my second shot this week. My kids are going back to daycare in a couple of weeks, where they won't be required to wear masks. If they are around a bunch of unmasked kids all day, why can't they go to a restaurant? At some point, when shots are available to everyone, people who are high risk shouldn't be at the Cheesecake Factory if they can't or won't get vaccinated. I've stayed in my house for over a year (while seeing the social media posts of the people who just never stopped going out). I'm not staying home for another year just because some people are insane and want a risk-free existence.

Yes. Jesus Christ are people this mental? There are about 52,000 things you do every day without thinking that are statistically more dangerous to your kids than covid.

Let them live a regular life already!!

Just because your daycare isn’t making masks mandatory doesn’t mean they’re doing something right.

DH got vaccinated first back in December so he has eaten indoors. I have not as I just got vaccinated. Going forward, wondering if we can go to a restaurant. We always eat early so we would be first seating.

Would you eat out with unvaccinated kids when parents are vaccinated?

Absolutely. Covid is not particularly dangerous for kids. Once adults are vaccinated it’s hard to to justify restrictions on children.

Well, here's the thing. While you are toting your kids out and about, not worried because YOU are vaccinated, your children can catch and spread covid to a lot of people who are NOT vaccinated yet. Thus, the warnings about maintaining distancing and masking and so on until the pandemic is truly under control and more people are vaccinated. To only think of yourself and your children is exactly what people mean when they say you are selfish.

We never stopped dining out, except for the brief period last spring when they were takeout only. Now DW and I are vaccinated, and the kids have nothing to worry about, so why wouldn’t we?

Some of you really just prefer pandemic life, I think. Your choice, but whatever. The restaurants are crowded.

X 1000. We’re back to life as normal and have been since June. These lunatics can hunker away forever for all I care.

No one is vaccinated yet since we’re all low risk. Still living life.

And yes Karen I knowIm killing Grandma. 😁

You’re not killing grandma anymore, because she’s probably vaccinated.

You are ignorant if you think there are no downsides to masking children.

Yup. No commute, travel for work, social obligations they never had time for. Time to work out, watch Netflix. Money saved and risk outsourced. The pandemic has been great for the wealthy.

I don’t foresee returning to indoor dining anytime soon, vaccinated or otherwise.

Why?

I have gone unvaccinated which I can see might make others uncomfortable but why not once you are vaccinated? That makes no sense.

I would love to see who you are. My guess is you have lived all your life with a level of selfishness that would make most of us retch.

The fact that you have to dismiss people who are trying to make decisions to safeguard their family and their community in a world where the information we have to go on is ever-evolving as "lunatics" is telling. This how this kind of thing works, over time we learn more, we modify, we learn more again, we modify again. Most of the answers about how this works, how it spreads, how to treat it, how long the vaccination is effective for, how well the vaccine does against the variants...all of these things require time.

So if you've been acting this way since last June when we knew so little, you are just a selfish, foolish, jerk. Plain and simple old jerk. So please STFU as the rest of the grown ups try to recalibrate.
