Brookeville bypass wasn't needed

UPDATE: Work is STILL going on on this damn bypass. I maintain it wasn't needed.

You're welcome to your opinion. Fortunately, wiser minds were the ones making the decision.

I'm mad it wasn't a four lane highway

I do, and the bypass will really help safety in the little town, and help avoid the flooding of the stream that always occurs when there is a downpour there and prevent more water rescues.

It is not old growth forest, as most of the land was farmed at one time, and the trees can be replanted.

I just feel the traffic levels didn't warrant a bypass. Again, that money could have been better spent elsewhere on MOCO roads like over in Poolesville.

Which state highways in Poolesville do you want to widen, and why?

DP. Why are you attacking the OP?

If you think that question is “attacking,” I hope you’re eight years old. Wow. NP

It was a rude response.

Work is still ongoing because the SHA construction schedule is that it won’t be complete until the end of 2022. So relax a little.

It's the forever bypass it has taken so long.

Are they re-routing the creek?

They have installed a bridge.

COVID is an obvious reason for the delay.

Hooray!

Now the former state elected official who lobbied for this can finally back out of her driveway into Georgia Avenue!

I agree. This bypass was not necessary at all. It is absolutely ridiculous and just awful. Whoever came up with this idea must have been 8 years old.

If Brookeville didn't want people speeding through their town, well, they already had speed cameras.

No reason for this waste of money on this bypass and these circles.

Says someone has never had to stop and turn around because of flooding in Brookville.

It's open, it's lovely and it was absolutely needed.

Now the town and the creek is not at risk for flooding, and the historic town can be persevered, and safe from idiots going 50+ through 90 degree turns.
