Signed, Angry White Man |
And having lived in areas where unions are a thing....there is a difference. They just aren't that prominent here. No RWNJ is driving around with a union sticker on his pimped out "tactical" van.

My parents lived in Roswell, NM, for a while when I was in college and law school. New Mexico has the best license plates of any state, by a long shot. |
There are very few libertarian or small government advocates who would support abolishing the military. You’re arguing against a straw man. All but the most radical libertarians agree that things like national defense and law enforcement are a proper role for government, since they’re not things that can be accomplished by private individuals. So, there’s nothing hypocritical in your neighbors working in the military while also supporting a smaller government. And, you’re assuming their license plates are espousing libertarian ideals, rather than the original message of the Gadsden flag, which was national defense oriented. There’s a lot of ignorance on your part on display here. |
People say that, but then they're sore when it affects who will socialize with them, hire them etc. and they cry "discrimination!" If you truly don't care, that's fine. I just don't want to hear any whining about the inevitable consequences of people thinking you're a conspiracy crank. |
DP Do you/would you have the same concerns about who won’t socialize with you or hire you, etc because they see a “Biden” bumpersticker on your car? My guess is you’ll say “no, of course not!” And therein lays the arrogance of your opinion. Because you would likely think “no, why would anyone think ill of me for that? That means I’m normal!” So only libertarians and conservatives should feel apprehension about being judged by strangers, customers, prospective employers, etc? But not you. Because you’re on the “good” side, right? Let’s go further, then: would you complain about being discriminated against if I didn’t hire you, or sell you something you needed, or refused to be friendly to you because you had a Biden sticker on your car? I’m guessing you would. Or would you just not care? And if you wouldn’t care, then why is that such a thing for you - making others aware that people are judging them, not hiring them, not patronizing their business, etc. ? Why do you limit yourself in this way? |
Not really - can you show me your position that libertarians are pro-police forces and pro-military. From what I've read/learned they aren't. Can you show me some evidence on this? |
| They sell the flag at military exchanges. I have seen both black and white soldiers with that flag. I also saw it at the end of the Patriot, when the US defeated the British. I always thought it was symbolic of independence from British rule. |
Grandpa, it's 2021 and the flag has been co-opted by trash people. |
Yeah, before the Capitol insurrection, the tea party flag was already merging with the Trump flag. Now, if you display it, I assume you are for overthrowing a democratically elected government. Basically, now it's racist and/or conspiracy believers. They have totally changed the meaning of that flag. |
Ageist? How vulgar! You need counseling before we accept you into modern society, After all, it is 2021. |
Sure - I'll get in line after the old farts who can't keep up with modern politics. First topic: It's 2021 and RWNJs of multiple flavors love the Gadsden flag. |
Sigh. You’re just another ignorant Washingtonian, educated beyond your native intelligence. This area is full of people like you. Lots of credentials, but very little knowledge. The central premise of libertarianism is that the only proper role for government are activities that protect the rights of the people. National defense and crime prevention fall squarely within that area. I’m not really sure what you’ve been reading about libertarianism. |
Hmm... https://www.lp.org/platform/ |
You’re wasting your time. These people cannot be made to see reason. But I’ve learned they CAN be made angry, and that’s what I’ve come to enjoy. |
