She looks so basic now.

Exactly this. I don't know if she's had any work done or not, but her makeup is just awful. The red lip and arched eyebrows were part of her signature look, it's sad that she did away with them. They made her recognizable and now she isn't.

I did not like her previous signature look. She always looked unattractive and low class. I prefer her new look. Sophisticated and elegant. Maybe it was the red lipstick that never looked good on her?

If by sophisticated you mean basic and plastic with no typical Hollywood features. She’s so basic looking that she looks like another Hollywood starlet. Yeah, that’s so incredibly sophisticated.

PP voice poster here - THANK YOU OP for posting this. I have been wanting to talk to someone about this for awhile.

That red lip and white hair is harsh and much easier to pull off when younger. As she was aging I get why she felt compelled to go softer. She did it because she wants to feel good about herself. I think she looks great.

I don’t think her current hair reads as “softer”. The red lip, yes.

He’s not attractive.

I guarantee he’s better looking than your husband. He’s also filthy rich, A-list, incredibly charming and very talented.

Huh? He is not ugly by any means but he is also not at all anymore attractive than the average dude his age. He's tall, that's very nice. But plenty of people have way, way nicer bodies than him and features. I mean he's basically a dime a dozen tall, white dude. He has a charm to him, I'll give him that, but a lot of it feels very Nashville record-label publicity machine persona, which just feels really dated, even in country music that model has become less used.

And he has that horrible tattoo on his arm that he acknowledges is terrible. Interesting that he does not feel compelled to do anything about it. He's fine with himself. Classic.

Yes good point. She has been blonde for a long time, they rarely give it up long term. She's attached to being blind and I agree she has always had an insecurity streak and I think has difficulties not being with a partner. I think she is limited that way. I don't get him at all. And find him "basic" as they say. A bore.

I dislike the spider eyelashes.

It is a hyperrealistic look that conveys better in photos. When she turned around in her chair and started speaking on the voice, I gasped. Yes, she looks fantastic for 51, and her personal style has always been exaggerated and overly styled (the culturally appropriated 90s bindi looks, the harajuku braces era). But I would have loved to see her style evolve a tad bit more naturally, like why does she need a new chin and built out veneers? This does track with her history of reinvention I suppose.

I think the fillers have actually softened a bit and she looks less scary in the commercial than in the Voice. But when she talked on the Voice especially early in the season 1she struggled to show any emotion and maybe even to get some words out - but maybe that's how she always talked, I wasn't too familiar with her speaking. P

I like her, but yeah she has always been really insecure and I suspect kind of low IQ. She never picks up on humor or nuance in interviews in a way that is almost painful to watch. Definitely has zero sense of humor about herself and comes across as awkward or desperate.

+1

I posted this earlier but she has always been insecure. I think that is part of why she cultivated such a unique look when she was first famous. She was always going to go the route of extensive plastic surgery because she is so insecure. Hollywood certainly doesn't build people up, it tears them down. She also used to talk about the crazy dieting she always did. Her looks and body have always been her focal point.

That's what I thought. I was initially confused by the commercial (I missed the part where he loudly announced her name) and was wondering why Jennifer Garner went blonde.

Yes!!! My kids were even worried about her - I think they said something like, what is wrong with her face?!

Ewwwwwwwwwww. She does not look sophisticated. The endless parade of bottle blondes with overly-straightened straw hair, obvious pounds of makeup, obvious awful false eyelashes... these are not sophisticated.

We have come to this place where people think porn makeup looks sophisticated. Ugh. I hope the pendulum swings soon!!
