I’m sorry you haven’t demonstrated that wearing masks presents a greater public health risk than Covid. I’m sorry that you haven’t demonstrated that masks present any public health risk at all. We are a year into this thing and I can’t believe there are people still arguing against masks. You want things open, kids back into school, soccer to be played and we can’t have any of it because people like you are still around crying about masks.

Soccer has been played for the past six months. What exactly are you blathering about?

What are you?

Things are open. Check
Many kids are in school, and many more public education kids are going back in the very near future. Check.
Competitive soccer has been played since summer. Check

It sounds like we can, indeed, have all of it.

Exactly, so what is YOUR point?

So is the Soccerplex now requiring masks? Why would we be going backwards? The kids have been there playing without masks for weeks and now that numbers are dropping we are requiring masks?

Yes. Email went out a little while ago, citing the new county order. They said there is no evidence of any case transmission from games there but that is the county rule now.

For those whose kids have been playing soccer wearing masks, how are they managing? My son says that he would rather not play than play with a mask.

My daughter played last week for the first time in a while. I made her wear a mask even though it wasn't required, and she was fine with it.

+1 my teen use the 32 degrees when they have to wear them playing soccer. Their moco travel teams have been requiring them at practices for months now. It doesn't bother them, although my oldest pulls it down around her chin a lot when she is actually playing a game.

I would recommend you invest some time in the CDC website, learn how CoVid deaths are reported (ICD Codes and underlying conditions), research how much total deaths go up year after year and compare 2020 to previous years by the average increase of total deaths by year. After that, deaths by age, especially those under age 20, compare to other pandemics and the Flu.

After perhaps you gain understanding of the numbers without media bias of any sort, I would then look up a study done by the CDC on the effectiveness of Facemasks against the spread of virus that was published in 2018. It's very interesting...but no doubt that face masks are common sense in these times.

Through using unbiased sources and research, I have come to my own conclusion. I suggest all of you do the same rather than post biased links that don't tell the whole story.

The one flaw in all of this is that you believe you are wise enough, informed enough and versed enough to even draw a reasonable conclusion.

+1. Stupid people think they are the smartest people in the world. 450,000 deaths in the US alone is still not enough for these dummies to understand the risk associated with COVID. What don’t these dummies understand?

How do you know which people are stupid and which are not? Should we appoint an expert to decide? And should that expert be able to dictate how everyone else lives their life, imprisoning them in their home if the expert dcides it is ncessary? How should we decide on who the expert should be? Or should it just be someone that agrees with you?

That is why I never go to the doctor. Why consult an expert when I can just research potential medical problems on my own??!! Heck, I bet I could even perform surgery and do dental work if I just consult the right sources. Experts shmexperts, I say.

I completely agree. Why do we need lawyers to argue our cases? We do we need teachers and coaches for our kids. Between Google and YouTube, we have everything we need

It was a funny bit when talking about doctors. But lawyers? There are some good ones but a lot of BS artists.

be glad you don't live in DC, probably no soccer for another 2 years allowed

Fine. My kid's Moco travel team has been playing masked since August. It was uncomfortably hot when it was uncomfortably hot, but now that's cold they actually like it.

Some of you may find this interesting: The CDC Publishes Scientific Paper Jointly Authored with the NFL on COVID-19 Lessons from the 2020 Season

https://www.nfl.com/playerhealthandsafety/resources/press-releases/cdc-publishes-scientific-paper-jointly-authored-with-the-nfl-on-covid-19-lessons?fbclid=IwAR0h_MTPvr75pdauMkGlRoGUCoaeqVF3oeiDCUfI2gpwtOR8DvFOk89gr3s

I figure, if NFL pros can practice in masks, my 12-year-old can probably play their little travel game in a mask, too.

And also, the data is pretty clear that outdoor transmission is pretty much not a thing. It's really, really rare. Our kids are more likely to get in a car wreck on the way to the games.

I wish everyone would stop thinking in terms of absolutes. We're weighing statistical risk against costs and benefits. A year into this, the costs of not playing have become too high to bear in many cases. We can absolutely restrict the most risky behavior (say, shaking hands with every player on every team after games) and mitigate the most serious risks while still enjoying the benefits of the activity.

Wearing a mask while playing soccer is no big deal. Moco kids have been doing it for six months without issue.

And not wearing masks is not a big deal, either, so long as other mitigation strategies are in place and are strictly followed. All other things being equal, the risk to individuals on the field, unmasked, during the course of a game is not significant statistically.

Now ask me how I feel about the 25-person rule...

Those aren't bad, but the Bauer masks are better, can find them online or at Pure Hockey (Total Hockey).

MoCo approved 50 people at soccer games.
