Where did McLean go wrong?

While there are more alternatives, the truly elite are always going to be drawn to winning programs with good coaching. So "this is it for McLean" is probably a bit strong. McLean has a great history of turning the corner for U16 and U17 teams. In fact, they are probably the winningest program at U17 and above in the area over the past 5 years The corner turning has continued this year, but dilution and COVID related scaling back of recruiting classes will likely mean fewer placements than in the past. Is this a good thing for the area? We might develop a bumper crop of college grade kids this way (across all clubs), but there is a holding back effect on the most talented. Dilution tends to take the top off the pyramid.

Past performance is no guarantee....., but you hold on to hope.

Past results are more indicative than baseless speculation.

They say this every year

Umm, well after firing a POS soccer coach for little girls, Louise promoted him to a position of more authority. The youth girls McLean AGD has his head so far up CW's butt that the club can't go back and fix this problem. Parents constantly complain!!! Until Louise and JA go, nothing changes.

There you have it folks, the best case for Mclean. Results from 2015 and the state of Oklahoma.

Time to head to FCV, Arlington, or VDA.

I am not sure what the fuss is all about, McLean's current standings in ECNL are:

U13 - 9th, the only NoVa club that is higher is VDA in the 4th place;
U14- 2nd, only Loudoun is higher at no. 1;
U15- 6th, the only NoVa club that is higher is VDA in the 2nd place;
U16-5th, no NoVa clubs are higher;
U17-6th, no NoVa clubs are higher;
U18/19- 2nd, no NoVA clubs are higher.

So in 3 age groups McLean did better than any other NoVA ECNL club and in the other 3 only 1 NoVA club did better.
