Showering after middle/high school gym class

I grew up in the 70's and 80's and we never used the shower. Not once. There wouldn't have been time even if we wanted to. I can't remember really sweating in gym class, though.

Do they still have open showers?
I did a division I sport in college and we had a large, open shower room. I was told that would never happen today and in fact when I visited my alma matter the showers were separate and private

I graduated in 1994

Me and almost of the girls in my junior high and high school showered after all of our gym classes, but it was by choice, not a rule. From what I recall hearing at the time the only boys who tended to shower were the ones who played football. Maybe it's a female thing that we wanted to feel and smell cleaner than a lot of the boys cared about for themselves??? Or maybe boys worried more about teasing???

I would have felt gross if I had had to go through the whole day sweaty.

Not to offend anyone, but those of you who never showered after gym classes, what did you do? Did you re-apply a lot of deodorant after gym class, or did you use body spray?

In 1990s I never showered at school.

My kid's school doesn't even change clothes for PE.

From what I've seen, showering at school is how rapes happen.

I'm so glad schools don't make kids shower after gym. Especially me because I am very self-conscious about my body

I graduated in 94 and we only showered after the swimming unit in gym class, never any other time.
