you're not that clueless, are you? |
I guess I am. Please explain how disliking PG county makes someone racist. PG vs. Moco - more crime, less educated adult population, worse schools. Why exactly should I pretend to like that and what does it have to do with race? |
lol.. someone really has an inferiority complex about NoVa with all the postings about how much better NoVA is compared to its surrounding area. Get a life PP and stop embarrassing yourself. BTW, I use to live in San Mateo County. |
Back to the original question. For me, living in PG (Cheverly) gave us the ability to buy a house in a nice neighborhood and kept my commute around 15 minutes. Our local ES has worked for us. Our neighbors are all professionals. Scientists, graphic designers, IT folks, programmers, GS-13-15 Feds, teachers etc. Not many doctors or lawyers, but there are a few. We have a lot of NPR employees and people who work in congressional offices. We have a lot of families who moved here because they were priced out of Capitol Hill. Houses run between $350-650K. Cheverly is very family friendly because families can live off of one income and have a stay at home parent if they want too. We have lived here for 18 years and have never been a victim of crime. Our kids walk or bike around town to see their friends. There is really only one way in and out of town so there isn't much through traffic on the side streets. Old Greenbelt and University Park is very similar. Historic Hyattsville, Mt Rainer and Riverdale Park are a bit different because they have small Main Street type areas. Also very family friendly and safe. College Park is fine, but it isn't your typical college town and wouldn't be my first choice given your criteria. Also, purple line construction is a HUGE pain right now. |
Yes you are if you don't know that talking about PG county, especially in the Real Estate, always involve race. |
| It seems like there are some houses near College Park that are quite inexpensive compared to what they'd cost in NoVa. So your money may go further. It does seem like private school might be required. Realtors in PG don't even bother most of the time to note the school assignments and the web pages for some of the schools, such as Northwestern HS, emphasize that the school has large and growing ESOL and FARMS populations, while not featuring the school's course catalogs. In addition, many will feature communications from the school principals that are full of grammar and syntax errors. It's almost anti-marketing for those who'd want their kids to get a good education. |
MoCo (non Silver Spring) resident here so I don't have a dog in this fight but your statement about realtors in PG not bothering to put in school assignments in their listing is false. Just open up any PG listing and you can see for yourself that school assignments are listed there. Next, why would they post the web page of the school in their listing? I've never seen that practice before. Also, there is a course catalog on the PG county school web site: https://www.pgcps.org/courses-and-programs-of-study/. Courses are usually listed at the county level because the courses are available at all schools for the most part. Finally, you really don't get to talk about grammar errors when you yourself can't write a comprehensible post. What are you saying now about Northwestern High School's emphasis on it's growing ESOL and FARMS population? |
| As someone who grew up both in Nova AND MoCo (and who attended the Univ of MD, College Park) I can tell you that both areas are very similar. They are both diverse, both lean liberal, both have great neighborhoods and great schools. Anyone arguing that the MD and VA DC area suburbs are different just doesn't know what they are talking about! |
Your reading comprehension skills are seriously lacking. PG realtors regularly fail to identify the schools for their listings. That is almost never the case in NoVa or western MoCo. And it's the school web sites maintained by PGCPS that are underwhelming when it comes to specific course offerings. The link you provided is just a compilation of all the courses that may be offered at PGCPS schools, with the disclaimer that individual schools may not offer all those courses. Other school systems are much clearer as to the courses actually offered at individual schools. And you wonder why people go private there... |
All the areas around these universities are very high in crime. No wonder people are leaving Baltimore every year. |
Hyattsville is safe?? Seriously? |
|
Isn't Charlottesville where the white supremacists had their March??
|
MD would kill you with all the taxes and poor service. No wonder people are leaving MD and going to other state and NoVA could be one of them. |
Yeah, it's where a city resident wprotesting against the far right agitators was murdered by an out of towner white supremacist. Be glad it hasn't in your home town, douche bag. |
That would only happen in white supremacists friendly city such as Charlottesville. |
