Karens are also security guards.

So we just stand by and let people steal? What is wrong with you?

Correct. The very fact that you feel some obligation to “blow the whistle” makes you a Karen.

Well then I’m proud to be Karen. I will not stand by and watch someone break the law, I don’t care what color you are. So POC shop lifters are okay, white shoplifters should be reported? This is nonsense. I didn’t even hesitate to report it because I have morals and it’s wrong to steal.

I understand that cognitive dissonance is hard. But I am glad you are owning this. Admitting you are a bad person and a racist is an important first step. Another feature of Karens is to profess to being indifferent to color or colorblind. That in and itself is a huge market of white privilege.

And you never paused to think that maybe she is hungry? Or offer to pay for her food? Why do people steal food? Just for fun, right?

Case in point. If you are white, you will never win with these people. You will be blamed for the crimes of others. Not worth it. Just let people steal. Not your fight.

No, I thought of my best friend who works at a different trader joes who is having her hours cut becuase business is down from all the social distancing. I don’t care about thieves, use a food bank. Don’t steal! What is wrong with you? I’d report white people for doing the same!!

Nothing is wrong with me. Stealing is wrong. Calling people names (like Karen) is wrong. I have the moral compass to recognize this.

Our culture is so nasty and coarse I just try my best to remain anonymous. Not getting involved is the best way to do that. I have kids I need to raise, I can't have my life destroyed by some Twitter mob. Looking the other way and never speaking to strangers helps with that.

I didn’t grow up in the US, so maybe it’s easier for me to not ignore things like this but stealing is never okay. I don’t care what color you are, I’m not going to just turn my head when I see someone committing an actual crime.

Not PP, but you don't know what you're talking about. When was the last time you offered to buy somebody's food in a grocery store? BTDT. I offered somebody money who was stealing in the grocery store and he started screaming at me. Nobody wants a white savior to come rescue them at TJ.

I am white. I am pp who asked if she wondered if the lady was hungry. I take offense to your use or "these people." There are no "these people," people are people. When you stop using such a racist term, you might start to learn about equality and change your racist behaviors. When I was in a butcher shop and a old woman came asking for chicken bones, and they had none, I offered to pay for something else. This was in Europe, we were both white. I take great offense to you using the term "these people."

Well, as an American, I find our culture to be individualistic, aggressive, rude and bordering on chaotic. My defense mechanism for this is to foster relationships with close family and friends and be very gaurded with virtually everyone else. Typically this involves not talking very much, being polite and ignoring bad behavior. The downside of this is I can come off as unfriendly. The upshot is I never have any problems with strangers.

It's not worth it to me to risk an altercation for reporting someone at a store. I don't work there. I'm not a security guard. They can install more cameras or hire more security if they care. If they don't want to do that, there is no reason for me to play cop for them.

Let's clarify. These people is not "minorities."

These people is YOU.

I’m with you on the last paragraph here on what I do myself but by the same token, I would probably not complain about someone else if they did report actual shoplifting.

More the way you have tried to justify it. From making it clear it was a BLACK WOMAN to professing indifference to color, your ignorance and privilege is on full display.

Please. The karen meme is misogynist and racist. Anyone using it is exposing themselves. We've had words for obnoxious people for centuries that didn't have to focus on their gender or race.

I offered and paid many times. Do not presume to lecture me. I have also offered it and paid many times back in my home country and I have done many thing you would never dream of doing. Hunger is humble, hunger is everywhere. Stop and ask how many people in MC suburban areas do not have a range that works and have no money to fix it. Ask how many of your kids' friends do not invite your kid over, and why? Maybe they are freezing, maybe electricity is out? There is only one reason a middle aged woman is stealing food, only one if she is not mentally ill. Either way, not your business. TJ can take the hit.
As for TJ, you are not the justice league at TJ's. TJ has its own security. Mind your own dang business and leave people alone.

I am AA. One of my nieces worked at the Lord & Taylor in Chevy Chase several years ago. She said white women would shoplift all the time, especially nicely dressed elderly white women, and security would escort them out the door after retrieving the shoplifted items. If the shoplifters were AA or Latino, security would more often than not call the police.

This was true of my DD’s experience working at Bloomingdale’s and Nordstrom. Security at Nordstrom was very familiar with one woman and would just call her DH to pay for the purchases.

It was a factual statement. I’m sorry you can’t see the difference. Have a nice Saturday.

The only social currency white women have is their sexual attraction to men. When that goes, society wants to push them off on an ice flow. Since we can't do that, we tell them to STFU and stand quietly in the corner where their aging body and appearance won't offend anyone's eyeballs.

Tell me I'm wrong.

+1
This is it.

I think this is true to all middle aged women. Why just white? Do people care more about middle aged black woken or middle aged Asian women? ALL women, once past the prime of their attractiveness are less heard
