Agree. Much closer to the mark than the $220k poster. And I work in US Card. I wonder if salaries have come down, or if that poster was just talking out of their ass.

Most of my colleagues are hardworking and motivated, but some coast by and do the bare minimum and still get regular promotions every few years because they have “influence” (i.e., they know the right people and they’ve landed in a nice cushy role). Others like me work hard for every rating and promotion they get. Of course, I’ve had my days when I’ve slacked off and done nothing all day. OTOH, I’ve had weeks where I worked nights and weekends. Overall it averages out to 45 hours a week, I’d say.


$220 would be with VS or E bonus I imagine.

It’s crazy how such a large place could afford to employ so many people who don’t work hard. Anyone else?


Your DH has a nice deal, then. Mine is also a Director, makes $200k + about $40k bonus + the stock thing, so just a little more than yours. He's currently working full days and then some, and didn't go to bed at all a few nights ago. Not common but it happens. It's a busy job for him. Reading about CapOne on here makes me realize each department is so so different in workload and expectations and also in compensation.


You have to be director to get a decent salary at cap one. Below that it is terrible


Yes, salaries are pretty bad below that. Analysts are at 110-130K range and there are tons of them that just goof around. Associates and analysts level jobs are about 80% of all the total workforce at Capone.

US cards is the only division I have seen with some decent work getting done but have a lot of slackers too. Company supplies, work trips, dinner/hotel bills etc are also very easy to get approved at Card division. I am seeing a little belt tightening though and they need to cut the waste.

You could be right about this though. I haven't seen a lot of big school graduates till Sr Manager level. Known a few VPs from Ivy leagues but they weren't happy and left within a short time.

Is he/she moving up? They get stick at that level and that's the way the promotions are set-up. Managers do get decent bonuses of $10K+ and it also depends on the division.

Internal promotions suck. You usually get a standard 12% for each promotion even though someone hired externally for that same role would probably make $35k more...

WTF! Why would someone try to get promoted internally instead get paid more after job hopping and coming back. This is horrible culture and appreciation to your own employees.
