Most walkable neighborhoods in VA?

Actually, I think you're the troll because that seems to be the only reason you're instigating. You do understand how this works, don't you? The thread stays alive every time you post. It keeps moving to the top. If you want it to go away Justin then you have to stop posting. Although we all understand that logic isn't your strong suit.

-1. Vienna is not walkable at all.

Hmmm ... then why do I walk to the library, to restaurants, to the Town Green and my kids walk to the Community Center to play pick up basketball with their friends? Vienna is extremely walkable and I walk it all the time.

Same here. It’s also safer (we don’t even lock our doors) and the schools are much better. But it’s still a ways from DC.

Anonymous wrote:Yes as you point out, it is a problem throughout the city. I was only addressing Old Town because that was the point of the post. If you're worried about it then check out the comments on NextDoor and FaceBook. It isn't fearmongering when you state facts that are easily verifiable. Residents are talking about it. A lot. Verify it yourself. Yes, obviously traffic is a problem (#JustinsTrafficJam and #TakeBackSeminaryRoad) but we also have an uptick in car theft and thefts from cars.

I live in this part of Old Town and I have never once in three years had an issue with my car being broken into, nor do I know a single neighbor who has had this happen to them, nor have I ever had a conversation with a neighbor that this is an issue.

Just because bored SAHM's are getting themselves spun up about some imaginary drama on Facebook or Nextdoor doesn't mean it's an actual problem.

To be extremely walkable a place needs more than a string of retail heavily concentrated along one strip. Vienna fails that test, even with a few things on Church or Park. Old Town passes. Clarendon is somewhere in the middle because it has retail concentrated along several streets (Wilson, Clarendon).

Really? You live in the 4th quadrant by JH and you claim that there has not ever been a car stolen in 3 years? You're unbelievable.

Who died and left you in charge of what walkability means?

It's not really controversial. You can't get away with pretending that Vienna is more walkable than it is just to compensate for it being so far out.

"Vienna.... I guess I don’t know much about it except it’s the last stop on the orange line. It would be 45 mins at least into DC proper? I’m assuming we’ll end up in DC once or twice a week for meeting friends etc. A bit too far me thinks..?"

If you move to Vienna, there's no way you'll meet up with friends in DC more than every few months. My best friend moved out to one of those kind of places in Virginia and I haven't seen her for several months. It's at least an hour each way, so there's no ability to make spontaneous plans to meet up. And with babies or toddlers it's even more challenging unless you're okay with them falling asleep in the car. Once they are out of car seats it will be impossible to do that on weeknights and your weekends will be filled with house care and local kid activities. You may as well live in Richmond if you're going to be that far from the District.

Go to walk score website.

My SFH in Clarendon scores a “96”. Bikeable “87”. It’s true we are almost never in a car.

You can punch in addresses.

But you live in a soulless place with a bunch of soon to be bankrupt gyms.

Don't challenge them... if you can walk somewhere, it isn't necessarily walkable.
