Since when are conservatives Trump supporters? Trump supporters are a small subsection of conservatives. A vocal subsection that the rest of the party can’t seem to stand up to but a small percentage nonetheless. |
Why the need to make these fatuous comparisons? I'm not sure there are any Ebola cases in the US right now and when we last had an outbreak there were two deaths. TB is a major problem in some countries, but we have something like 8,000 TB cases (not deaths) in a year. That's a couple weeks worth of COVID-19 deaths at this point. Yes, other things could theoretically be worse but they're not, this is. |
There’s hardly any daylight between Republicans and Trumpsters. |
Had it. It was quite mild for me. |
That perfectly demonstrates the problem. We should have been testing from January. Trump cost us the entire month of February and half of March downplaying the epidemic. |
Huh? |
January, February...wait, what was going on then, which Dems told us was the most important and urgent thing to address! |
What planet are you living on? The last two republicans that openly criticized Trump and still held onto their seat were McCain and Romney. One is dead and the other is actively being shunned by his own party. |
I think traditional Conservatives can’t stand up to Trump and his stupid supporters. Look at Lindsay Graham he completely caved. The GOP have been courting the fanatics for years and now they’re stuck with them because they don’t have the balls to take their party back from the fanatics. |
So, you agree that Trump's response to the epidemic was a failure? BTW, Joe Biden predicted that Trump would fail way back in January: https://www.usatoday.com/story/opinion/2020/01/27/coronavirus-donald-trump-made-us-less-prepared-joe-biden-column/4581710002/ Given Trump's failure to respond to the epidemic are you willing to trust him to reopen things? Are you willing to put your and your family's health in his hands? If so, please go first. Don't expect others to take risks that you won't. |
| If Drs. Fauci and Birx are indeed experts to be trusted, are we to assume, then, that the administration's phased reopening plan, with the ball in states' court, with federal assistance as appropriate, has no basis in rational thought? Or are we assuming that they have become beholden to Trump and are merely doing the best they can in tough circumstances, due to Trump's egomania and other faults? If the latter, shouldn't they resign? I'm just trying to separate out the political from the rest of it, and I hope that folks are not letting their political preferences drive their opinions. |
