We're 12 months away. It's possible that Trump will lose by 5 million votes and still carry the EC.

It's fine to feel hopeful. Anything more than that is foolish.

As hopeful as I try to be, I would make sure we have a route to 270 that does not depend on Florida. I live in Florida - I think it's almost purple but still red in the end here.

Pick a state (esp Penna, Florida, Wisco, Michigan, Texas, North Carolina etc) and adopt the local Democratic Party and a candidate or two. Give heavily.

My ILs -- extended family (lots and lots of them) all live across Iowa. They are all-in for Pete. Two of them are even knocking on doors for him.

I'm from Indiana. I've liked him since he ran for Treasurer in 2010. That run was doomed from the start for a number of reasons, but young as he is, he was impressive even at 28.
