I have to laugh at the “IF something changes” line. As if they won’t be practicing at the St James 80% of the time by this time next year. |
Sure because you know everything. One year at a time. That’s how you take soccer around here. Looking forward to the coming year. Good luck wherever you are. |
There is only one certainty with new owners that has played out over and over all across the country: things will change. No matter what is promised - because they almost always promise nothing will change - they always shift it to whatever works to enhance their bottom line. You can take that to the bank. And TSJ certainly will. |
And it seems like you are so hoping for some changes. Why are you hoping for that? Why do you want the club to make moves that might upset the soccer careers of many young people who are happy there? Why do you hate FCV players? Because at the end of the day, you’re not rooting against the coaches or the administration, you’re hoping for the worst for young players. Can’t understand that. I don’t know your club, but even if I did, I wouldn’t be hoping for the worst for it. I probably wouldn’t even care. |
| Hello Pot, meet Kettle |
DP—I don’t see it that way. This poster seems to be warning you to prepare for change, similar to how posters warned Spirit parents of the pro club dropping their affiliation earlier in the year. Really similar situation in terms of the ownership change, and the implication is that changes to the new owner’s liking may follow, which happened with Spirit and other clubs who have gone through ownership changes. That’s the message, not looking to hurt the kids but help by prepping the parents on what may come. |
Well, that explains it. Not. |
Except no one knows what’s to come. It’s all guess work. And the families and kids are paying attention. All the wild guesses from people who hate the club can’t be especially helpful. Let the kids enjoy the next season and figure it out as they go. What prep work can they even do? As it get closer to tryouts, in a year, decisions will be made. |
| This is a forum. A place to shoot the shit. To speculate. To just have a conversation. While you can disagree with people’s theories, stating things like “why do you care?” and getting all defensive about your kid’s club is a waste of time. If you don’t want to hear this stuff then stop reading this forum. If you’re going to read this forum, then don’t be a puss about it. Counter argue, but quit the little bitchy comments. |
Ok. Then don’t be a wuss when people point out that the ecnl is an inferior concept to the GDA. |
Ha! So, you got nothing then? Except some rules for how we should approach the forum. Got it. We all know what this place is. A place for you to vent your frustrations endlessly about FCV. But we’re the wusses? Ok. Whatever happened, let it go. |
Ummm he was staring in general about how forums work and he is right. Whatever you said makes no point and certainly doesn’t counter that fact. “Ha!” Is not a counter argument. The forum is a place to speculate about these things and that is all people are doing. There is nothing wrong about predicting how this sale will work out down the road. Your defensiveness on the matter will neither stop the speculation nor affect the possible outcomes. Is it better to plan for the future based on a range of scenarios or to just wait for things to happen and plan after the fact? How many practices at the St James are to many? One? Two? It doesn’t matter? How much of a price hike or how much extra “encouraged” extras can you afford or are comfortable saying no to? Knowing your own limitations and a healthy dose of speculative prediction can make you better prepared. Last year you signed on at FCV and it was a simple soccer decision, certainly nobody was anticipating the club would sell. But now this year after a out of the blue sale and the near certainty of change you think the best idea is to wait until next spring to plan? You don’t think the higher ups at the St James don’t have their own buddies who they would like to work with? Change is coming, how much is hard to tell but to deny that change is coming is a bad approach. |
I don’t think people are defensive. They’re realistic. What plan can be made now without anyone knowing what will change? People aren’t dumb, people are watching, waiting and will plan accordingly. There’s no one answer. If things move to Springfield in a year, that may work for some and not others. You want to invent 100 negative scenarios and explore them all. Have fun. What I’m saying is that there are kids attached to all these scenarios. And for all those hoping for the worst for any club, you should really remember who is impacted. |

05 and above at FCV will not change regardless of practice location. Most of the 05 team will be 9th grade and the 04 10th grade next year. We like to call them the recruiting years.
This move will effect the 06 and down age groups. |
