OP is old if she thinks some guy in his late thirties who wears Lulu and still has a college sticker on his car! Is hot shi+. We

A guy in his early 40s could easily have a college freshman aged daughter.

There are so many people with flexible schedules, working from home or early semi-retired in our neighborhood. That guy would not stand out at all.

I’m sure people don’t think I work because I’m out in workout clothes on breaks or at Whole Foods in workout gear.

No one is questioning whether or not you work because you're wearing atheleisure - you're a woman. Men however, different standard.

The standards are evolving for men too. Do you see how many regular out and about men are wearing ankle jeans and pants?

I'm in my late 30s and conscious of fashion. and have spent a lot of time around successful, professional gay men as well as straight men. Please remember that what young 20-something men will wear is not the same as what men in their late 30s / early 40s will wear.

We have no evidence that the man in question is gay but men in their late 30s/40s who are fashion conscious in this particular way are probably more likely to be gay, although it certainly doesn't mean he is.

Remember the term “metrosexual”? There are plenty of wealthy “metrosexual” guys in their 30-40s in this area. My DH likes to get a manicure more often than me. He shops at fancy stores and likes nice clothes. And he is definitely not gay. We know lots of guys like this.

Sigh. I knew people would come along and deliberately misunderstand. I don't care what your DH is like. I don't care about the exceptions. I don't care about the screeching and blubbering and self-righteous but but but.... The simple reality and the whole point of my post, was that a man who appears like this in his late 30s / 40s is more likely to be gay. Does it mean he is gay? No. Are all gay men like this? No. But the odds are *higher* that he is. So it is not unreasonable to think he might be gay based on his appearance.

What idle trust fund men do all day in their expensive leisure clothes and luxury SUVs? Coffee at 8am and then...?

If we are lucky, we leave from my slip and we prepare for dessert. You.

He’s always wearing Lululemon casual clothing and spotless running shoes or casual sneakers. Is there some high-paying job I’m not aware of that allows this dress code? Or maybe inheritance or SAHD.

Is this in Vienna? Sounds like a dad I know.

What does he do?

Is mainly a SAHD, but has a business related to athletics/personal training (hence the Lululemon).

Guess you missed my point. This is very common. Not an exception at all.

My friend’s husband is a dental surgeon and dresses like this. Drives an expensive BMW coupe.

Maybe in flyover country. Most professional men in DC don’t marry until they are in their 30s and they have little kids in their early 40s.

This thread is so offensive. Or, a throwback to 2003. There's literally nothing "gay" about a man dressing that way. How totally ridiculous.

Yea. As a guy I didn't even know Lululemon was even an option for guys.

Gay, works from home in marketing. Partner has a big job and is often traveling. Used to work in a big office with lots of chatty women and is an extrovert, so needs to go to the coffee shop for “human interaction.”
