“Documents indicate that the National Rifle Association planned to purchase a luxury mansion in the Dallas area last year for the use of chief executive Wayne LaPierre, according to two people familiar with the records.

The discussions about the roughly $6 million purchase, which was not completed, are now under scrutiny by New York investigators. The transaction was slated to be made through a corporate entity that received a wire of tens of thousands of dollars from the NRA in 2018, according to the people.”

Wow. I wonder if NRA members know that their dues pay for LaPierre to live large.

For lots of members of the gun culture, the NRA is seen as a milquetoast organization devoted to serving the interests of Elmer Fudd-types, rather than an advocacy group for modern gun owners, most of which don't hunt, and own guns specifically for defense. The running joke among them is that NRA stands for "Negotiate Rights Away", since that's essentially what the NRAs unending capitulation to gun control groups has aaccomplished. As a result, other groups like GOA, SAF, and JPFO have sprung up, and pulled away hundreds of thousands of members by taking a harder line against compromise with gun banners than does the NRA.

When this infighting is over, whoever is left on top will be working very hard to get those members who have walked away, back.

What gun rights have been negotiated away?

Thats a gun fetishist your replying to. That’s a person who helps get kids killed.

The NRA is a terrorist organizing that gets American kids killed. It’s hard for me to imagine what organization could be worse.

Do you think your attitude might be a significant factor in why most of the 80,000,000 American gun owners have no desire to have a dialog?

No dialogue is necessary. Your actions after Sandy Hook, Las Vegas, and countless other blood baths had told us enough.

This. There's no dialogue b/c there is none to be had on your end. Period.

I worry for my safety. I need to be out on the open water on a yacht... make it a mega yacht, since I need some room.

And not only was the NRA going to pay for LaPierre’s $10 million mansion, they paid a consultant $70,000 to pick which mansion he should buy.

I'm sure current NRA members are fine with contributing to this. That's how they dumb they are.

The NRA today is so far off of where they came from. It seems like only crazed gun nutters and/or white supremacists are NRA members today. If you aren't one of these folks, then you know to leave the NRA.

Absolutely no one leave the NRA!
This sexy, youngish, charming hunk named Wayne La Pierre is working so hard to defend our Contusion-- we should send him on more European luxury vacations, more Beverly Hills shopping trips and get him a mansion in every state so he can continue to defend our sacred rights. Also subsidize more internships for eye candy so he can be really relaxed and at the top of his game! Nothing less than our gliberty is at stake!

gliberty = what a perfect neologism!

“A top National Rifle Association executive signed a document agreeing that the gun-rights organization would be 99% owner of a company formed to buy a $6 million Dallas mansion for NRA CEO Wayne LaPierre, according to a copy of the document reviewed by The Wall Street Journal.

The document also shows the NRA agreed to contribute $6.5 million to the company formed to buy the property, raising yet more questions about the NRA’s previous statements that none of the gun-rights group’s money was to be used to purchase the house for Mr. LaPierre.

The house-purchase deal never happened, but conflicting explanations from the NRA and its former ad agency for the aborted transaction have renewed the focus on Mr. LaPierre’s financial dealings with the agency, Ackerman McQueen Inc.”
