For lots of members of the gun culture, the NRA is seen as a milquetoast organization devoted to serving the interests of Elmer Fudd-types, rather than an advocacy group for modern gun owners, most of which don't hunt, and own guns specifically for defense. The running joke among them is that NRA stands for "Negotiate Rights Away", since that's essentially what the NRAs unending capitulation to gun control groups has aaccomplished. As a result, other groups like GOA, SAF, and JPFO have sprung up, and pulled away hundreds of thousands of members by taking a harder line against compromise with gun banners than does the NRA.

When this infighting is over, whoever is left on top will be working very hard to get those members who have walked away, back.

What gun rights have been negotiated away?

Thats a gun fetishist your replying to. That’s a person who helps get kids killed.

The NRA is a terrorist organizing that gets American kids killed. It’s hard for me to imagine what organization could be worse.

Do you think your attitude might be a significant factor in why most of the 80,000,000 American gun owners have no desire to have a dialog?

501(c)3 tax exemption is not even supposed to be allowed for organizations engaging in overtly political activities. I think Congress needs to exercise its oversight authority and step in and make clear that overtly political organizations like the NRA cannot hold tax-exempt status.

You have to be careful, or Planned Parenthood, SPLC and others would lose the exemption too.

If that was actually all they did it would be great.

Fingers crossed for the New York State investigation into the NRA's tax exempt status.

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) on Monday swiped at President Trump for his handling of gun violence after the president criticized state leaders for their investigation into the National Rifle Association (NRA).

Trump issued a series of morning tweets in which he accused Cuomo and New York Attorney General Letitia James of "illegally using the State's legal apparatus to take down and destroy" the NRA. James's office last week issued subpoenas to the NRA and its affiliates as part of an investigation into the organization's tax-exempt status.

"The scourge of gun violence is a national crisis plaguing our country and killing our children. It demands action. And action, Mr. President, requires true leadership," Cuomo said in a statement responding to Trump's tweets.

"The only thing illegal is the gun lobby's insurance scheme," he continued. "Unlike you, President Trump, New York is not afraid to stand up to the NRA. I will continue to fight for the children of this state. As for the NRA, we'll remember them in our thoughts and prayers."

Cuomo chastised Trump for his lack of action to curb gun violence. The governor noted that nearly 75,000 Americans had died of gun violence since his election.

The grifters that make up the NRA will continue to steal money till there is nothing left to steal. At which time they will form another organization and start it all over again. It’s what they do for a living.

No dialogue is necessary. Your actions after Sandy Hook, Las Vegas, and countless other blood baths had told us enough.

+1 State attorney generals have done a lot to keep the worst abuses of the GOP in check.

That's really it.

The NRA is an organization which is designed to make money for wealthy people by literally getting American children killed.

Kids are dying so Wayne LaPierre and gun CEOs can make more money.
