it's common sense.

Living in an apartment makes a kid do less well on tests and misbehave more? How about that.

no, having parents that live in an apartment does.

And this is different than a day or stepdad how??? Does signing a piece of paper magically make someone less likely to sexually assault someone? Do you just not like unrelated men around your child? How about male teachers??

Yes.

Mom's boyfriend being around is the single biggest risk factor for child molestation and abuse.

Actual statistics from a reputable source, please.

How do you not know the risks? They are well documented.

Children around a live in boyfriend are up to 20 times more likely to be abused than those who do not have a luve in boyfriend around:

The risks increase slightly with a step parent, but significantly with a live in boyfriend:

This is misleading. The PP suggested that she did not mind single moms, but she did mind a live-in boy friend. So that is the true comparison, not "single mom with a live-in boyfriend" vs kids living with parents.
The study was showing:

"Children living without either parent (foster children) are 10 times more likely to be sexually abused
than children that live with both biological parents. Children who live with a single parent that has a
live-in partner are at the highest risk; they are 20 times more likely to be victims of child sexual abuse
than children living with both biological parents."

This means, kids with a single parent that has a live-in partner is only twice more likely to be sexually abused than kids living without either parent.

You lack comprehension.

"Without either parent" means foster kids NOT single parents.

Foster kids are 10 times more likely to be sexually abused than kids in intact homes.

Kids living with mom her live in boyfriend are TWENTY times more likely to be sexually abused than kids living in intact home and twice as likely to be abused as kids in foster homes

It seems like in every thread in the MD Public School forum, when a school is mentioned people will tell them to avoid it because there’s kids that live in apartments that attend. Why is this an issue? I’m currently living in an apartment and this is disappointing to know that certain parents wouldn’t want their kid around mine just because of her address.

No that’s not true.
Apartments appeal to many people. Just keep the density to less than one family of 5 per bedroom.

The apartments in my neighborhood rent for 3K plus per month. It is not a cheap option. I think the stigma might depend on the neighbour hood, but downtown DC this is very common way of life for professional families.

Living in an apartment makes people worse parents?

You are right on the part "Without either parent" means foster kids NOT single parents.

But you are wrong (assuming you are the PP) when saying kids living with mom and live-in boyfriend are 20 times more likely to ...

Remember, it should be single mom with live-in boyfriend vs. single mom (without live-in boyfriend), not mom with live-in boyfriend vs. "intact home". Is that still a factor of 20 more dangerous? Your reference did not say....

People here are class-insecure and status conscious. It took me a while to realize that, but it's true. Housing and cars are what they use to prove their status--and they feel a need to prove it.

You mean run down 1970s garden style apartments that rent per week cash pay per room in silver spring and Wheaton?

Or the new $3500/week 2BRs all along the red line, both directions?
