There's nothing natural about it. It's the result of government policies. |
Again what are you talking about????? HOCO is for people priced out of the good areas of MoCo and/or want more land vs being face to face with their neighbors in Bethesda. This isn't about race it's about class again everyone wants the best schools period and they will move to make it happen. Whites do it, asians, do it hispanics do it, blacks do it |
Yep, you haven't been to DC in decades. |
Again. This thread isn't about race. It's about economic segregation. I haven't assumed anything other than the reason people want to avoid certain things when sending their kid to school. |
I'm about to tear my hair out. In 2019 no one is stopping anyone from buying anywhere period. There is no government policy. |
Apparently you haven't read or watched a local news report on the state of DC public schools, including in SE in just as long. |
Government policy is determining which neighborhoods (usually segregated by income) goes to which schools |
Who makes the decisions about who is allowed to build what where? Who makes the decisions about how people can get from here to there? Who makes the decisions about schools? Who makes the decisions about who is allowed to work and under what conditions? Who makes the decisions on what gets taxed and how much? Not to mention that the world did not come into being on January 1, 2019. All of the past decisions about all of this stuff also still affect us. |
the correct term is EOTR east of the river. public schools have sucked over there for decades and multi generations |
Brent Elementary School, for example? 8 out of 10 on GreatSchools. So is Watkins Elementary School. Both in Southeast. |
Wonderful! Move there and rest in peace. |
I can't afford to move there. |
Magruder is not a high-poverty high school. https://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/departments/regulatoryaccountability/glance/currentyear/schools/04510.pdf So how is this relevant to the thread? |
It's not wealthy either... which was the point of this thread. |
Neither of these are across the river in the real SE. Using schools in neighborhoods where lobbyists, Congressional staffers, etc live doesn't really prove your point. |
