One of his many quotes on the topic.

“He also says, repeatedly, that he is against gay marriage. “I believe that marriage is the union between a man and a woman. Now, for me as a Christian — for me — for me as a Christian, it is also a sacred union. God’s in the mix,” he tells pastor Rick Warren at the Saddleback Presidential Forum”

While we’re at it, look at both of Clintons’ records. Bill signed the Defence of Marriage Act into law.

One of Hillary’s quotes: “ "Marriage has got historic, religious and moral content that goes back to the beginning of time, and I think a marriage is as a marriage has always been, between a man and a woman.”

This is a non-issue for me regarding Gabbard.

True, but I think a history of an anti-gay stance disqualifies candidates going forward.

That said, I really hope voters take the time to learn and care about foreign policy and what we're doing to civilians abroad.

I see it as a chance for the evolved candidate to actually do more with propelling gay rights forward to prove their new stance, just as was the case with Obama.

Tulsi has stated that her views have not evolved.

She won't even make it to round of 25. Super weak.

Tulsi has stated that her views have not evolved.

“In a post published in December 2011, Gabbard wrote that her two tours of duty in the Middle East compelled her to advocate for reproductive freedom and marriage equality.”

“"I began to realize that the positions I had held previously regarding the issues of choice and gay marriage were rooted in the same premise held by those in power in the oppressive Middle East regimes I saw — that it is government's role to define and enforce our personal morality," Gabbard wrote.”

Earlier in the thread I asked if Obama ever called LGBT people “homosexual extremists” or if he caled for snd crafted legislation against same sex marriage.

I see the answer is no.

Who knows?

She is a House member and from Hawaii. I'd guess her chances aren't great even if other things about her are (or are not).

That David Duke, Mike Cernovich, Richard Spencer, and Steve Bannon praise her tells me all I need to know. Hard pass.

Exactly. 100%

This is absolute nonsense. Hillary won except for the targeted Russian intervention that suppressed Dem turnout in a few key places. ANY democrat who turns out the Obama coalition will beat Trump.

So what if he never said those specific words? You're drawing artificial lines that are meaningless. He opposed marriage equality for years and years and years, and it was NO problem for the left. To oppose Gabbard on similar grounds is astounding hypocrisy and it's obvious for everyone to see.

Eh. Not really. There are so many Dems in the primary at this point, it’s OK to reject one for any reason at all.

+1 There are plenty of candidates without her negative baggage, with likely many more to come. I won’t be supporting her.

Agree. She held those views that she grew up with from her father who also would use the term homosexual extremism, when she enlisted and got out more in the world she developed her own views. I respect her more for that. She wasn't picking and flip flopping on a view that would work best for her politically like our previous president, she pretty much consistently doesn't go along with party lines just for parties sake.

Since then she has >copy pasted here--> co-sponsored the Employment Non-Discrimination Act, co-sponsored the Restore Honor to Service Members Act, co-sponsored the Respect for Marriage Act, co-sponsored the Repeal of the Defense of Marriage Act, co-sponsored the Military Spouses Equal Treatment Act, co-sponsored the Safe Schools Improvement Act, co-sponsored the Equality Act, co-sponsored the Healthy Families Act, co-sponsored the Equality for All Resolution, signed the Marriage Equality Amicus Briefs, advocated for LGBT Housing / Privacy Rights and advocated to End Bullying and Harassment in Schools.

I'm not writing her off hastily. I like her focus on foreign policy and as a Democrat that's tired of all the fluff our party has focused on, it's refreshing.

Honestly, she sounds like the shill the GOP pays to join the race just to make sure it's a circus.

A fraction of the LGBTQ-supportive vote (friends, family, co-workers, people with brains and hearts). Together with the actual LGBTQ vote, that's a lot.
