residency fraud? (!)

This topic is what the daily caller used to do before Trump won. I miss those innocent days, when we just had a bunch if rabid race-baiting reporters trolling here... Instead of writing apologies for drunk fratboys.

Regarding residence fraud: so it isn't fraud if there is one DC parent. I have a rich white friend whose stepkid has gone back and forth from Moco to DCPS, perfectly legally... and never been investigated.

And the child does not have to live with the DC parent a majority of the time, or even ANY of the time.

The residency cheaters I know of on Capitol Hill live in DC, but not in bounds for the school they attend through residency fraud.

Maybe they lotteries in, or were in-bounds for a particular school, and then moved to The Hill. As long as they are bona fide DC, residents I don't consider this residency fraud.

Boundary fraud (attending a DCPS you don't live IB for and didn't access through the relevant lottery rules) and residency fraud (living outside DC and falsely claiming you are a DC resident) are not the same.

Sure, but I don't think the explanation for most cars with MD plates is that they're driving "company cars." I've been directly asked by more than one Silver Spring parent how to go about enrolling their kids in our IB. I think people have been doing it for so long that it isn't considered a big deal for some.

Sure you have

Most company cars don't have decals and stickers on them.

NP here. I have DC tags and a DC license. I pay DC taxes. I own and live in a home in MD. Am I committing residency fraud if I send my kid to DCPS? I don't, but just curious. I am clearly able to register my kid.

Yes, you are unless your child has another parent who does live in DC, and that is the person who enrolls the child.

DC Taxpayer =/= equal DC resident. The regulations are clear on that one point.

If you're certain that these "residency fraud" perps don't own or rent an in-boundary property, and didn't lottery in from OOB, why not report them to OSSE instead of bitching here?

Sorry to say, your definition of in-bounds is unlikely to correspond to OSSE's. From what I can tell, DC really only cares if parents file DC income tax returns from an in-boundary address, pick up school-related correspondence there, and get their kids to school on time consistently. No objections to the arrangement (and I live across the street from the IB school where we enroll our kids).

The MD DMV would also likely have issues with your arrangement.

So would the state of Maryland's department of taxation.

Best of luck getting your insurance company to pay your bills in the event of an accident. Best of luck.

These kids get to go to school, they don’t get to lie and cheat to take what’s not theirs.

I can’t speak for all schools, but I definitely See this at Stuart Hobson and ludlow taylor ever school day.

I also see huge lines of Maryland plates outside Perry St Prep and KIP high school.
