Defensive lady who never went to college - you should have challenged your son to leave his comfort zone and be open to schools in the South. Teenagers often have a narrow perspective and parents should gently nudge them to expand their horizons. |
Defensive lady with no college education here. Thanks for the advice. We did, indeed, "challenge" him, but you can only "nudge" a teen so much. In the end it is his decision. He has some great options even without all those southern schools. |
Coming from Tuscaloosa, I was shocked to hear several people claim that Maryland is a southern state, because it falls below the Mason Dixon line. Uh, no. Also, Roll Tide! |

Duke may be in the South, but it is no way a "southern" school. The rest of the description was pretty spot on though...
