See You Again by Wiz Khalifa. My dad died when my kids were 5 and 3. About 8 months later this song came on the radio and my 3 year old told me it was about him and his grandpa.

The House That Built Me by Miranda Lambert. You can never go home again!

I was coming to post this song. This song not only makes me cry, but makes me feel guilty as $hit for all of the times I am 'too busy' to do stuff with my kids. I actually refuse to listen to it because it depresses the hell out of me.

- the guilt of a working mom

My husband won't listen to that song either. He used to like it (in a non personal way) when he was in college and married.

But once we had sons, followed by a very demanding job assignment, he won't listen to that song.

Mine is Wake Me When September Ends.

My mom died unexpectedly at the end of August
, and the next few weeks my dad started proposing online to a bunch of rent a brides. I was in my third trimester and could barely function. I remember driving on the beltway home from an OB appointment two weeks after we buried her when that song came on. I was sloppy crying all the way from Bethesda to the mixing bowl. It has been years and anytime that song comes on a tear comes to my eyes.

This is how I feel about Over You by Miranda Lambert. Our brother was killed in January. The last time we saw him was opening Christmas gifts in December, just like in the song. This song would come on the radio ALL throughout February (also like in the song) that year and we would just sob and yell, "Get out of my head, Miranda!" It was cathartic, though. It's been many years and I can't listen to it anymore because it brings all that pain right back up.

Arms of the Angel-it was played at my good friend’s funeral service. Those Humane Society commercials have nothing on a friend dying suddenly at 18.

Black by Pearl Jam, friend from above’s favorite song.

Freshman, by the Verve

Praying, Ke$ha. Having 3 daughters and knowing she’s talking about someone who abused her gets me every time.

I Am Moana-when her grandma tells her it’s okay to go home and then she’s singing on the boat and the call is inside her, and ugh, I’m tearing up now.

Wind Beneath My Wings by Bette Middler

Another Lonely Day by Ben Harper

How to Disappear Completely and Street Spirit by Radiohead

Anonymous wrote:I’m going to be showing my age, but there was a song that wrecked me when I was a kid in the 70’s. It was the song “Wildfire”about some horse. My 8 year old self would bawl at the thought of this poor horse, dying in the cold. As an adult, I get teary-eyed at “into the mystic” by Van Morrison because it was sung at my friend’s funeral.

+100 to both!!
