Why are the British so rude?

The difference is, they practice their rudeness freely because guns are illegal in the Uk and the worst that usually happens is someone is rude back or tries to punch them in the face.

As someone who has lived in Britain, I completely agree with this. The Scottish, especially, are wonderful people. The English, not so much. Very rude and condescending.

I have a friend who lived in Scotland and she said the same. She loved pretty much everyone from the UK, but when it came to the English, it was like she thought they were the scum of the earth. And she's not a dramatic person

We were the first country to abolish slavery, never allowed slavery in the UK, and were instrumental in suppressing the slave trade.

Uh, no. Denmark was the first country to abolish slavery.

And you must be joking about Brits "never allowing slavery." What a crock.

Oops. Better check on those facts in British-occupied Africa.

Europeans are generally far more xenophobic and hostile to immigrants than Americans could ever imagine. When immigrants complain about the US, I advise them to try UK.

I wish people who had absolutely nothing to do with any abolishing, allowing, or suppressing would stop saying "WE." Not you, PP, so STFU.

Yep. Lil ol teenager me was shocked when I visited Europe for the first time and someone asked me why I was hanging out with a black person

I agree that Europe is generally more openly racist but there is nothing to compare with the deep seated racism of the American south.

Lynchings and KKK

That's all you need to say really - long term established torture of minorities.

In terms of rude, I have a difficult time with South Africans. I find them painfully rude.

This. I have a South African friend who is painfully rude. It's hard to watch sometimes. She says it's part of South African culture to gossip and trash talk. She's White and I really don't think she's a racist, but she has said some racially charged stuff even when minorities are a part of the group. Everyone else sits by thinking "did she really just say that?" I like her, but she is definitely an acquired taste.

Eastern European here, who lived in 3 European countries and visited many other countries. So true, my mom told me she will disown me if I dated, married, had anything to do with a black guy. She doesn't even pretend to be accepting and mask it. She doesn't know any black, Asian, etc.. people. My BIL is so racist, that my kids don't want to talk to him and tell me that he is stupid and ignorant. I don't think he ever met a black person. In Norway, they will cross the street if they see a black person coming towards them and warned me not to go shopping in "Chinese district," (it is literary half of one street and a few stores in alleys around) as I will be in danger. This was said by an educated white Norwegian couple who had kids at a private school I was teaching at. Europeans like to act like they are not racist, but isn't that easy if you never met a person of another ethnicity. And not only that, Germans hate Turkish and Eastern Europeans, English hate just about everybody, French hate the Spanish, Croats hate Serbs(even though they speak the same language, they fought against each other in several wars). Heck, Croats burned Nikola Tesla's house twice because he was an ethnic Serb, but now they claim he was a Croat... Polish hate Russians, all hate Gypsies, all hate Bulgarians, but even Bulgarians hate themselves, on and on it goes....

Sure, I might agree, but you need to look at what Europeans did to Jews, then you might rethink it. And I am not talking about WWII only. Go back to ancient history. Plus all those KKK people came from where originally?

But where did most of these white SA people come from? Dutch and English, right? I know many white SA people, they are racist to the core.

????? Why would they be miffed. He hasn't visited because they British public don't want him there and started a petition to bar him from Parliament. They are happy he hasn't come over.

I know Dutch and British people, even if that's where white South Africans are from, the white SA people I know are way more abrasive. No filter whatsoever.
