I just hope your DH can get some help and lose the weight. Hope he doesn't give up on doing this. |
It's a meme from 5 years ago |
| Once was enough for me. Many obese people are angry passive aggressive or emotionally disturbed. Work is difficult enough without working through all their problems. So no I would not hire someone who weighed 350 lbs ( morbidly obese ) if there was any possible other alternative. |

I thought it was something Gwyneth Paltrow sells. As for hiring a morbidly obese person, it all comes down to presentation. I had an obese coworker who always dressed well in button down shirts and slacks. He probably spent a fortune in tailoring, but aside from being big, there were no negative aspects to his weight. Very intelligent, very competent. Now I have also worked with a woman who dressed inappropriately (her shirt would often pinch into the folds of fat and ride up to show skin around the waist). She made noises as she got up and sat down that made her sound like she was 90 years old and emphyzemic. The issue was not the weight specifically, but how she handled it. |

Yes, I definitely would. I'm technically morbidly obese myself by the BMI chart even at 5'10." I wear a size 14/16 dress and I've never had an issue getting a job.
OP, if you say your friend dresses well does he have anything else going on that could make his come across as "sloppy?" Like people might question his health if he sweats excessively or breathes heavily as in gets winded while talking or walking. And if he looks uncomfortable in normal seats/chairs, people might wonder if he'll "fit in." None of it's right but some people focus a lot on appearance and make assumptions. |
Then you are inefficient AF. Rainmakers aren't busybusybusy every minute with tiny tasks. |
| I had a friend who was technically morbidly obese but she worked in a high end fashion company (where she actually didn't fit any of the clothes but she wore the accessories and had some things tailored) and was promoted several times. She just carried herself well and was always enthusiastic about doing tasks and motivated and always super well put-together. So I think the bar is higher, but you can overcome it by showing you are the opposite of the stereotypes of fat people as lazy and sloppy. |
This. If you have a desk job and you can't find 3 minutes to eat something, you're doing having an office job wrong. |
