I'm all for later HS start times and earlier start to the school year. You don't speak for everyone. |
+1 |
Our elementary school will now start at 9:20 - and get out at 4:05!! Ouch. |
+2. I'm also for limited use of all caps. |
My middle schooler's bus ride is nearly 40 minutes with traffic. |
NP here. Sorry, you missed the point. The second poster is trying to bait the first into saying that her son goes to an AAP center, which usually involves long bus rides. Then this thread can devolve into AAP hating. |
They just released the new schedules today. These changes haven't even happened yet, so it's hard to see the result of the changes. |
At least 15 minutes each way equals at least thirty minutes and it's because of TRAFFIC. But really, you call attention to the thirty minute commute as if it's the biggest deal out of all the rest of the time the school has him. And the massive headache that is an hour of homework AFTER he's been sitting still in school all day. The more important question is: WHY AM I SEEING NO IMPROVEMENTS WITH ALL OF THESE CHANGES??? it's madness. |
Actually, I"m the poster who asked and that was not my intention at all. I think it's sad that any kid would have to be on the bus that long. Where is this, PP? |
Ha! You mean we haven't switched to full day mondays yet? You mean they didn't increase the number of hours kids are in school each day? Because I'm pretty sure they started that already... |
Go away garza. |
same here but it's not that different. This year the bell is at 9:05 actual start time is 9:15. Next year the bell is at 9:10 actual start time is 9:20. It's 5min different. School ends at 3:55 this year 4:05 next year thus increasing what they call "instructional" time from 6:40 to 6:45. 5 extra minutes. Now what they are calling instructional time is a separate topic... |
Everybody was clamoring for full-day Mondays. Now you've got them. |
I wasn't. I was strongly opposed to full day mondays. |
| I am outraged and I do plan on running for school board. |
