Is Holton-Arms the most rigorous school in the state of Maryland?

The OP asked if it was the most rigorous SCHOOL.

You are comparing tiny specialized programs with about 100 or less kids which are selected out of 50,000 kids.

So, answer to OP's question is absolutely NOT.

Then post the most rigorous school.

LOL

MCPS grading system: 79.5 and a 89.5 = A for the semester.

MCPS also bumps up AP and honors an entire extra point. So you can get the grades above and pull out a 5.0 for the class?

MCPS offers freshman AP's to bump up their GPA's even more. What they don't post are the AP testing grades. Who scored what on those AP exams?

MCPS has no finals to take - kids were bombing them so they removed them instead of tried to figure out what the problem was

Sounds so intense.

Is this for real or a scam? Schools can’t possibly grade that easy. That grade = an 85 which is a B, not even a B+. How do kids A’s from that. That is impossible.

Yes. Yes, it is.

Very rigorous but a great community of high achieving students, very involved parents and very high caliber teachers/administrators. This is by far the best school in the nation.

Wow... You people are really over the top. I didn't realize H-A parent community is like this.

I’m curious because I know that some larger colleges evaluate applications on a state by state or region by region basis and Maryland school applicants are sometimes considered separately from DC and Virginia applicants.

A study on what schools are the most challenging to the students ?

I'd argue that the illiterate, illegal, and unskilled immigrant kids who show up unregistered the first week of school in Arlington and Montgomery County have the most challenging curriculum. SO much that they age out of high school at age 21.

Whatever. My DD and I were at the prospective student event today, and both of us get a great feeling about the school and really, really like it.

I thought HA only has 1/2 dozen NMSF? Am I wrong? Compare to Blair/RM where 30-40 kids out of 100 are NMSF?? Maybe I am missing something.

How do you know that any of those posters are actually affiliated with Holton? It's a sad fact that there are a lot of trolls on DCUM.

Same here - my daughter really enjoyed her visit today, and I thought the heads of school made a great presentation to parents (much better than the one they did at the fall open house). Our odds of accepting a Holton admit are much higher now than they were before today's visit. If she got admitted and had to choose today, DD would likely be torn between Holton and SFS, as both made the strongest impression on her during her visits.

So all these HA posters have nothing to do with Holton? Got it!

You really believe that people affiliated with HA are writing "[t]his is by far the best school in the nation"?

Yes, I certainly do. HA parents for sure. Which is pretty pathetic.

I would wager that's not your actual belief. DCUM is a better place when trolls stay out of things so that those of us who are actually trying to evaluate schools can get useful information.

Then you would be wrong again but no worries.

Then your belief is highly uninformed.
