Why does the younger DCUM majority hate Boomers so much?

The first few things on your list weren't boomers. They were Greatest Generation members.

As for created the fitness industry, it was during the boomer rise that obesity rates soared.

And as for all of the civil rights accomplishments, I feel like many Boomers are hypocrites when it comes to race. Don't even get me started on white flight and NIMBYism.

I don't think Gen X or Gen Y or any other generation is necessarily "better," but I'm tired of the Boomers taking credit for everything good and blaming others for everything bad. Even with issues like rape, the Boomers weren't all on the same page. A lot of those fights were Boomers against Boomers.

In conclusion, it's the self-righteousness of the Boomers that kind of stirs up bad feelings. I'm tired of hearing them wax eloquent about how great they were. Some Boomers did good work; others did very damaging things to society and the environment. It's the collective patting on the back that makes people irritated.

This is why people ate baby boomers. Many thousands went to war in Vietnam. The ones who renounced this country and ran away to save their own butts are typical me first, I am some how better than everyone else, baby boomers. They had a choice go to jail or go to war. If they thought the war was unjust, they should have gone to jail. But that would have been taking personnel responsibility for ones action.

We were in Mexico and driving behind a flatbed truck. Several young men were sitting on it without any safety protection. I asked DH if he would trade what he had for being that young again and he said yes without thinking.

I feel sorry for the young people started working in the last decade. Hopefully their youthful energy and creativity will save the humanity.

I signed lease guarantees for my children, something my parents never would have done for me. (I asked once when I was young and they said no.) I helped my children with their resumes and coached them through job hunting, something no parent ever did for me. I have also saved enough money for my own retirement so they will not need to financially contribute when I get old and sick.

Which generation had it bad?

Your children, not because you are bad parents. I am sure most of them would rather have your opportunity than your handout.

That is a big reason why people are angry at the Boomers. As another PP said, they hold most of the assets/independent wealth and yet they also receive the most in Federal subsidies.

I don't know, but has our country, our government, ever put so much of its investment in the elderly and not in the future (youth, job creation, innovation)?

Younger generations see that under the Boomers, pensions have been phased out, the cost of education has gone up above and beyond normal inflation, and even an advanced education doesn't ensure a job.

It's not about hatred. It's about angst.

I don't hate Boomers. And there are things that irritate me about pretty much every generation. Because let's face it, people are people. But right now, there is definitely an unequal distribution of resources in favor of the aging Boomers over all other generations. That causes tension and bitterness.

It is the same in other countries that have gone through an economic boom. The generation before were lifted up by the tide and the stupid ones think it is because they are smarter than the young.

I just came back from China. People born in the 60s got the best deal. Most of them have 3-4 apartments that they bought for less than 10 grand and now worth $700,000. They are in every level of management. Meanwhile, their kids with master degrees get paid $500-1000 a month and can not afford to buy their own place.
