Do you let your preteen daughter wear "jeggings"?

Anonymous
If the meatier dd wants to wear the Jeggings, then that means she is very self aware of her body type. As you know jeggings are very tight and shows off more than you would want. I say speak with your daughter. Tell her that she should wear long shirts that cover her behind, just so they aren't too mature for her.

If you're chunky or otherwise curvy, they'll look indecent. No problem: There are many other pants style to flatter girls who are not stick-thin.

If you think your child looks "just fine" in her tight(?) pants, why are you here defending yourself? Just keep letting her do grown-up stuff, and see where she is with that in 5-10 years. If you're so sure that you're doing the right thing now, then she'll be off in college, self-deciplined enough to tend to her studies, dress appropriately, eat decently, and drink responsibly(?). Because what you're doing now is laying the groundwork for all that will follow. Best wishes.

So let me get this straight. If I let my child wear leggings as a preteen, she will is doomed 5-10 years from now...?

If you let your child wear leggings (and jeggings) AS PANTS as a preteen, she will be doomed 5-10 years from now. Yup. Who knew that pants had so much power?

I had no idea pants had so much power. My 12 year old is doomed already. And she does a sport! With lots of hours of practice! She is soon to lie to me and do drugs. Leggings, jeggings and sports. Oh my!

I would rather jeggings or skinny jeans than clothes that hang off of them. With more traditional pants they end up with "bubble butt" because to get the length they need we have to get pants that are way too big in the waist and seat.

You sound bizarrely and unhealthily overinvested in your daughters' sports performance and "skinniness". Yuck.

Not the pp, but wanting your daughter to have pants that fit, is not

. Its wanting your daughter to have pants that fit. I, for example, like my DD to have pants that don't fall off when she walks. Luckily for us, Gap super skinny slims do the trick for us. Of course I now realize I have doomed her to a life of promiscuity and drugs. All for the sake of pants that fit.

I would never buy skin-tight clothing for my children unless they were tights, gym/ballet/swim things. My teens may buy within reason and with their own money something they like, however. Not the younger set.

Come up to Madison Ave, lady. I'll show you where you (apparently) haven't been. But if you want to keep your eyes closed, you still won't have a clue.

No, OP. No I would never allow my daughter to wear jeggings. They are so ugly and trashy looking. No. Absolutely not.

I hate to pop your bubble, but your jegging kid's already lying to you. But you can keep on believing her, and see where that gets her in 5 yrs. GL.

Agree.

Jeggings should not be worn by anyone, of any age, ever.
Even the word should not exist.

Jeggings were the only things that would stay up on the 6 yo wearing a 4T waist with a 6/6x-7 length. However, the 9yo wanted some too... no way.
