When I was growing up I used to think about what our world would look like if there was a law that you had to marry someone from a different race. I thought all the children would be really beautiful. As a grown up I remember thinking this fondly but know it would be an unjust and gross law, just like laws preventing interracial marriages were gross and unjust.
I find this viewpoint distasteful. Why the fascination with mixed children looking beautiful?
Genetic diversity is a very good thing - in terms of health and fitness, and it's pretty natural that mixed people are almost always very attractive. There's probably some evolutionary mechanism at work - who we're attracted to is generally rooted in some biological drive.
I have seen good-looking children who are the result of two unattractive people. I have seen two very attractive people have the offspring that looked like an iguana, that is all the features were misplaced on the child. I have seen mixed children who were unattractive and I have seen mixed children who are very attractive. The point is that genetics being what they are, you have no idea what a kid will look like until the final product is complete.
