I like Hunter. I like Harper, too.

Hunter - kills animals
Harper - harpie/ harp on smth

These are the associations I have with these names, but I'd like to change my perception, esp. since they're becoming popular. I would really appreciate someone chiming in and giving me the background of these names, or more positive associations. I'm not being derisive - just an immigrant with ESL.

I love Harper, just because of Harper Lee. Hunter is a horrendous name, it has nothing but violent connetations and a prevalent name for rednecks.

Got it. Your a bigot.

I don't think you know the definition of "bigot", the people whom name their children "Hunter" are usually the bigoted, racist, gay-hating ones.

Wow way to paint everyone named Hunter with a broad brush. That's a lot of anger for a simple cute name. Did a guy named Hunter dump you or something? I happen to like the name Hunter (and I'm black) it's the name of the star character from one of my fav tv shows from the 80s.

No, I know a lot of nice kind people with the name Hunter, I just find the name trashy. Would you name your kid Stalker, Killer, Trapper? It may *sound* cute but the meaning is not. Why is your race prevalent?

Nothing, I think both Haven and Halo are cute, but it was funny how their brother was Hunter.

You can't compare hunter to haven and halo. Hunter is pretty mainstream these days.

TIP: if you want to know whether a name is truly a name or merely a made up word or common noun masquerading as a name, all you have to do is type it...if its a proper name, then autocorrect will capitalize it

Yeah, but little stalker, killer, and trapper do not have established names that have been around since the 1800s.

No shit Sherlock, I was trying to show you how many people have the last name Hunter. Obviously the next list are people with Hunter as a first name. I wonder if Hunter Davies was a bigot? I think you get the gist that Hunter is a classic name.

To honor someone. Although sometimes it sounds pretty stupid.
