Oh You know.... new charter mish mash- bad communication and only getting to a little part of what they intend to do. Also Montessori is based on the older kids knowing the ropes and mentoring the little kids. Supposedly when it is done right it really works but this year all the kids came in o this new school at the same time so there was no time to develop this critical strategy. Also and probably more importantly older sib and DS have a chance at finally going to the same school together as older sib is also moving schools from DCPS to CCPCS.

That being said- DS had a wonderful, loving and nurturing experience there and even learned some empathy and some school stuff. Also wonderful muticultural feel to the school with many ethinicities and socioeconomic groups represented...truly Utopian in that sense. There were many positives but logistically it just was not for us.

nearly 100% certain we will turn down PreS spot at IT. Spending a long weekend obsessing over our options (we have an older child we are thinking about moving, so the younger got in a fair # of places - we're not normally that lucky). IT is right now at the bottom of our list (of places in which they were accepted), so will give that one up fairly easily.

We were near the bottom of the IT lottery list for K, but I still contacted the school to officially give up our spot.

Thank you as IT is #1 on our list!

Sounds like you've got good karma. Keep it rolling!

We will likely give up a spot at IT for a PS3 spot at our east of the park neighborhood school. It's not a long term option, but we think the neighborhood feel and overall benefits of proximity will be better for DC for the next two years. Thankfully, we are flexible and plan to move before K begins.

WL #400s for Haynes
WL #13 for CCPCS
Waiting on LAMB, MV, and DC Bilingual, but not holding my breath.

Update on this:
Accepted at Meridian (declining), Bethune and CAPCS-Butler
Haynes #260s (where I got 400s, not sure)
CCPCS #13 and #60s
Stokes #220s
MV #190s and high 200s
LAMB not received yet, but not called either.

Waiting on DC Bilingual without hope.

Will tour Bethune and Butler and make our decision next week I guess.

Why? What for?

Going to JKLM instead. As much as I like the idea of a Chinese language immersion school, I don't like the commute from Tenleytown.

Anyone know how many spots DC Bilingual has and any idea as to how many siblings already?
Anonymous
Not sure how accurate this is, but someone told me that DC Bilingual had 20 spots. I'm not sure where the siblings of current student factor into that number.

I am also waiting without much hope.

What does JKLM stand for?

I wonder how much the Yu Ying waitlist has moved then? Anybody know? For preK. Thanks.

Not turning anything down yet...haven't gotten in anywhere yet but it's early in the game.
