When well prepared, the big deal is the complexity of flavor in the broth. It takes a day or more to make well. Agree that there's a lot of cheap/ fast noodle soup out there masquerading as pho.

Acai
Smoothies

There are many foods I thought I didn't like, or would just pass on, but then when I had them prepared in a certain way, turned out it was a skill/ prep issue, not an ingredient issue. Like wings, and collard greens. I also spent years thinking I could live without tomatoes, because I'd only ever had grocery store tomatoes, which are pointless. Then someone served me a bagel with a thick slice of homegrown beefsteak tomato and basil, and I did a 180.

Then there are other things that I'm pretty convinced I just don't like... such as eggplant. Everyone who loves it has been convinced that *their* preparation is the exception. Nope, still mushy/ slimy and flavorless. And mayonnaise. Plenty of people have strong opinions about what brand (Dukes) and homemade vs commercial. I'll concede that it has certain, limited applications as food glue, but only in dishes where you can't taste it. I dislike the taste.

And piling on lobster. I don't dislike it per se. But if given the choice, I'll go for almost anything else on the menu. I don't get the hype.

Pho is my sick food. Hot, salty, and lime for the throat, the spice from the jalapeños to help clear out my sinuses.

I rarely want it when I'm not sick, but it's perfect whe you are. Way better than chicken noodle soup in my book.

+1

For me, it's the turkey. I like/love most other thanksgiving food, but turkey does nothing for me. Happily my family and others we do Thanksgiving with feel the same way, and so we've stopped making it, and substitute another protein or two that we all like.

Hate typical Thanksgiving food and have since I was a kid. Have had it many places and nothing has changed my mind. I am a good cook and even make it most years and while the inlaws clamor for it as "the best Thanksgiving food EVER!" AND I can sort of make it to my tastes and buy premium everything I still think it is trash. I sort of nibble on a wing and go hard on the apps and call it a day.

I only like coffee with milk and sugar, so I guess I don't care for it either.

Seriously DCUM. This is a "Food" forum.

Ok. I get raw fish and caviar. Goose liver. Yes I get that. I accept this.

But this is like celibate nuns responding to a sex forum; introverts on the travel forum. Why are you even here? Pasta? Cheese? Fruit? Bread??? FFS. You hate food. I accept you hate food. Why are you here?

Seriously. Why?
Tea
Coffee
Any expensive spirit
Fruit flavored drink
Wine

So basically water. Good times.

None of the above is water. I can do without all above except maybe tea, and I love food and like fine dining.

Wine. Wish good restaurants do better with other pairing beverages.

I'm currently pregnant and I occasionally think it might be nice to have wings and beer on a hot day but I don't miss wine at all.

I never much of a drinker though.
