And even if not, that sounds like a you problem. Its very normal to have 7th-12th graders on the same bus.

I’m guessing you’d also blame the 7th grade girl if assaulted by a high school senior because she was wearing provocative clothing on the bus.

No, rising 9th graders could chose to opt in or attend their current school. She might not have transportation Junior and Senior year if your house is in boundary for Skyview.

We are currently bordered for Oakton HS. Based on scenario 3, it may change to Chantilly HS. We want to stay at Oakton.

You won’t have that option. The only school where there has been a choice is Skyview. The recent boundary changes did not give the students a choice to stay at their HS unless they were rising Seniors.

This is not true. All current HS students affected by the recent boundary changes are grandfathered with transportation. Some students in middle and elementary school also have the option to stay at their current schools but FCPS isn’t providing transportation.

We were told by FCPS when asked that this isn't necessarily true. They haven't voted on the transportation part, and there is conversation about changing the Board Policy about allowing existing students to stay.

They voted on the transportation part on February 26th. Grandfathered high schoolers are to receive transportation.

If somehow they were to renege on this, they'd have a riot on their hands. Unlike the Skyview decisions, these changes go into effect this fall.

I think PP may be referring to the 2027 implementation

DP and I completely agree. It also offers an opportunity to have water safety classes for kids and even adults in the local community who do not have access to a pool. Not everyone lives in HOA neighborhood with a pool or can afford a private pool membership. I don’t know if the Herndon community center already offers something like this or if they are too booked up to do it. But some sort of free or low cost swim lessons could save lives.

Yes, they are going to release the bell schedule next month at the Skyview meeting that they have for students and parents. But they are modifying the schedule to make sure that kids can get to the schools for sports practice.

If they don't have varsity football for a couple of years they will have plenty of time to update/expand the current stadium and still have enough seating capacity for all the other sports. No other sports have big enough attendance to need a full size stadium right away.

They can have a football team without a home stadium. They might just have to have their “home” game at another school for a year or wit.

But they can’t have a football team without kids, and they probably don’t want to field a varsity team composed primarily of 9th snd 10th graders that will get annihilated.

There have not been accusations of sexual assault on the secondary school busses. You are assuming that there is illegal activity when there is no evidence.

The presentation on Tuesday night at the board work session clearly had them keeping the pool, it was part of the bid they put out to Architecture & Design firms.

Where I am from (different part of the country) every HS has a pool.
More pools, more kids learn to swim + other benefits. Like PP said it is already hard enough to find time.

It doesn't have to be a secondary school to share a bus. But, I'm not sure it would work with the numbers. And, the only bus assault I've heard of in the last few years was a middle school girl attacking a middle school boy. I'm not worried about that.

I don’t know if it’ll be a secondary school or not, but the architects talked a lot about the space between the two schools and shared fields. Carson and Skyview were viewed as an extension of each other (much like South lakes and Hughes). I think ultimately all of Carson will be districted to Skyview in the final approved scenario.

They talked about offering an academy program for 11th and 12th graders in lifesaving. I think it may even be for the coming year.
