You dems are the proven scum. And again its FUN to see you crash and burn! So look I satisfying and funny !

People on this thread either do not have a brain or do not know the way the world works. The questions is pretty straightforward. Despite the 4-3 decision it seems pretty open and shut. The rules were not followed. The reason the rules are there is to prevent last minute nonsense. The will of the people is expressed by its elected reps and only in limited cases by direct vote. I voted yes but I also agree with the opinion. |
You are too ignorant to even recognize that you left wingers are the true fascists now. And pretty much you are jokes now.

| The verbiage alone on the ballot was enough IMO to throw this bs out. Don't get me even started on the rest! Can't belive this made it to a special elections. Moronic leaders. |

In plain English, the court found that the legislature violated the VA Constitution by passing the amendment for the first time (on October 31, 2025) after early voting had already begun. By October 31, over 40% of votes had been cast in the VA 2025 General Election. It's not that tortured of a reading and I say that as a Democrat.
Personally, my view is that "election" for purposes of the VA Constitution should be read as Election Day. The VA SC disagrees. But reasonable people can disagree. That said, it's a pathetic joke if any of the judges in the majority consider themselves "Originalists" or "Textualists." They just inferred a whole lot of intent in the VA Constitution. |
January 6th. |
Agreee. And, the verbiage would have been next up to challenge. |
|
For this, the Dems spent over $60 million and revealed themselves to the voters of VA.
I don’t think the voters who would have been disenfranchised by the new map are going to forget this attempted power grab by democrats. I want to know what happens to all the northern Virginians who were running in the lobster district. |
| lol @ how stupidly the Dems handled this. The election issue was easily avoidable but they waited until the last second to hold the vote. |
It's clear when an election ends. However, because we have two different things, an election and election day, doesn't let me automatically conflate those ideas. You can't vote before early voting starts so there clearly is some start to the election. You shouldn't confuse a process with a day. |
| I didn't expect this decision. Sometimes "fair" isn't fair. No matter how you spin it. |
|
Such an epic fail by the Va Democrats.
A complete waste of time and money. |
As the dissent points out, the VA constitution also says that no one can be compelled to be a juror, witness or suitor during “an election.” Since election now means the entire 90 day period of early voting and there are often one or more elections per year, VA courts will be effectively shut down for a quarter or more each year. |
Actually, I think the people who think we should “burn the system down” are going to view this as a victory. When Republicans manage to hang on to power despite being pretty close to universally loathed due to rampant increases in cost and significant declines in quality of life, no one will care about what some partisan court held as “fair”. |
