Snow next week?

I can't remember when we had a full week of school. This is mind blowing.

Yep, when an organization or an official makes a decision you don’t agree with, it’s best to just lie down and take it. Who’s ever heard of dialogue or protest anyway?

You must be a troll!

Nope. We like sleep in our household.

If your children have a medical issue that requires more sleep you can keep them home. Get a doctor's note, but likely no one would ask for it. Those without medical sleep issues can use time at school. You are in charge of your kids. It doesn't require a delay for you to make a decision for them to sleep.

Also who is "we"? Youre a grown up. Your sleep isnt tied to school delays.

Didn't they sleep over the weekend?

I don't get some of you. I am realizing you are the problem for the decline of our educational system and society.

DP here. I have 2 kids in high school. One kid slept a lot and is between winter and spring sports. The other kid is super busy with AP classes, science Olympiad and SAT in 2 weeks. He could use the extra sleep.

Yep, same here.
My HSers have a vigorous course load + sports so any opportunity for extra sleep is helpful.

Did I mention they are teenagers?

I have teenagers in sports with vigorous course loads and full weekend activities. They don't need extra sleep. They might want this delay but it certainly doesn't mean they need it.

I disagree with this call. No reason for delay. I have an elementary kid and high schooler.

It is hard to believe elementary kid is
Learning anything! All these closures ans holidays and early release days they are never in school. No consistency what so ever. No momentum. Just constant schedule disruptions.

FCPS can't go wrong with a 2hr delay.

They're not using up a snow day and they do their due diligence with "safety is our top priority".

I'm ok with tomorrow's delay but it does count against our instructional time. We are counting hours, not days, so having a delay deducts two hours from the 990 that we need.

My high schooler is just getting over being sick. Even when he’s healthy he needs more sleep than he can get when he has to get up at 6am for school.

Weather happens. Ice is dangerous. I prefer that school has the flexibility to close or delay as needed for weather over the crazy number of random days off for religious holidays or teacher workdays.

No, this is not the exception. You just live in a bubble of mediocre people with sleep disorders.

Right and if we didn't have all those random days off and religious days off, this would be ok. But since this entire year has been a mess, we are angry because this delay was not necessary.

Is that your only retort now? Accusing people of having sleep disorders if they like sleeping in? You are weird.
