Why so little outrage over the sewage spill?

Why aren't the mayoral candidates talking about this?

I'm sick of paying $85 for a monthly sewer bill (not including hot water and water) for my one bedroom apartment just to have my crap dumped into the pootomac. It's bs.

Maryland and Virginia need to process their own sewage, IMO

Politicians like it because they can give water jobs to their friends. And because of their political leanings, voters here are not disposed to question the value of government spending or the legitimacy of high taxes and fees.

You won’t hear it here because it’s an unmitigated disaster caused by the dangerously incompetent democrats!
The leaking area is under federal control for the past few decades. This is an issue of underfunded infrastructure

why did dc water have funding for fancy new HQ but not to prevent this kind of disaster?

Salaries at DC water are hilariously high. They pay customer service reps six figure salaries. The number of people at the municipal water plant who make more than a quarter million dollars a year is *bananas*

Reminds me of before Detroit's bankruptcy, there was a Big 4 accounting study done on their water department. Headcount was bloated by something like 2,000+ unnecessary workers at an average of $85,000 a year, plus full pension and lifetime health care after 20 years. The accounting firm struggled to get those 2,000+ workers to detail what exactly they did all day. And of course no-show ghost employees nobody had seen in years, if ever.

The fake jobs are one thing but the public works contract swinging and change orders are a new ballgame. 7, 8 and 9 figure contracts flying around and nobody looks at them twice. Change orders come in to crack the dept for another 20, 30, 50%. Even legit contracts will be steered to insiders, who just skim money off the top and subcontract all the work.

you googled enough to know she has a PHD (and an MBA) but not enough to tell where? Her degree is from UMD-Eastern Shore. I think she has the qualifications to handle the administration of DCWATER though I hope the other board members have more technical backgrounds
I hate when non-physicians own/lead hospital systems but I don't forsee any changes anytime soon

This is why one party rule sucks. Everyone is on the same team so no one wants to do any oversight or criticize their friends.

Don't forget, DC Water recently tried to steal from customers with the random increases in impervious area charges that they had to pull back when it was exposed. The place needs to be torn apart and rebuilt

I’m curious what tough-minded, competent legislator who breaks everything he touches provides the grueling oversight necessary for this dysfunctional agency.

Oh. Of course.

It's not a story because it's been cold out. As soon as the stench starts to spread and anyone within a quarter-mile of the river finds it unbearable, people will be outraged. Water isn't real for people until it melts. Cherry Blossoms...Georgetown waterfront...water taxis...it's going to be a literal, complete sh*tshow.

DOES Director Vacationed With CEO Who Has Received Millions in Contracts and Grants
Dr. Unique Morris-Hughes’ agency has awarded millions of dollars worth of business to Dr. Tony Johnson and his company, Captivate Perspectives.

"Johnson is the president and CEO of Captivate Perspectives, a government contracting firm he started in September of 2019, according to city records."

Here she is with said "government contractor" on a week long Martha's Vineyard vacation to see the "African American Film Festival." Pray tell what her job has to do with a ritzy film festival? She's carrying what appears to be a $10,000 Louis Vuitton bag.

It's not a story and won't be a story because it's an election year and anything 'Democrats bad' is bad for business.
