My DC's scholarship offer accompanied his acceptance letter. DC said that some friends received scholarship offers after acceptance. Not sure it that's correct or DC was given inaccurate information.

UMich has a better academic reputation than UW-Madison overall for sure, but both are great schools. I notice UMich is overrated whereas UW is underrated esp on here. My kid is a normal (by no means spectacular) high stats student. According to Scoir, UMich is a reach but UW is just a likely.

There is no doubt Michigan is routinely ranked higher than than Wisconsin. That does not mean there are widespread characteristics in which students would notice significant or tangible differences between the universities.
