I see now that liberal arts colleges are not of interest. However, Colgate, from the suggestions above, may be closer to the preferred "medium sized" than Cornell, which I'd regard as large. |
| Apply to Emory ED2. |
|
Regarding your child's interest in Emory, Emory's literary offerings were once written about creatively in this article:

Look at the list again. Do you have some solid targets and safeties? If not, time to add. Take another look at the app - all sections of it to see if there is anything that needs editing. |
Is there much difference between Emory ED2 and RD? ED2 acceptance rate is about 10-11, RD about 8-10. The difference is minimal for a stong applicant like OP. |
| Review the essays for remaining schools and make sure they are tight and show very strong fit to school, intended major, etc Show understanding of school strengths, culture, etc. Tell why why you want x school, even if that is not the explicity question. Don't be generic. Maybe take a shot at an ed2 school if there is one they really like. Its hard... And good luck!!! |

I would reframe these. My kid attended a school like OPs (top private). She was at the same place in the class last year. None of these schools are safeties. WF is getting really hard--it's a crap shoot. Tufts is not easy either. It's probably 50/50 at best. They could very easily defer her ED2. 50/50 means target. Are you a Tufts booster? Op has more than a 50% chance at Wake ED2. Safety doesn't mean a guaranteed acceptance. |
Wake is also a target, particularly at this point in cycle. |
Disagree based on our school (at Big3) Scoir results. |
Didn’t see the previous exchange. Our school also a feeder and op’s kid would not have more than 50 percent odds given her class rank. |
Well, we have to disagree, because my kid is at a feeder as well Wake’s stats tricky because they value legacy (both parent and sibling) and it is easier the earlier one applies on cycle. With only ED2 and RD remaining and no legacy preference here , it’s a target. |
