College subreddits are full of posts by angry students posting about people cheating on finals in their classes (“guy in a BIO 170 final sitting in the front with a blue hoodie took his test into the bathroom” kinds of things). My kid who recently graduated from college has expressed frustration at the amount of cheating at his top LAC and how many kids he felt had been turned into AI zombies by their practice of zoning out in class and having AI spoon feed them summaries of notes taken by their AI notetaker apps. He also said tons of kids wrote all assignments with AI. It seems like a really different environment than when I was in school. |
That is really disheartening. |
| So may deferrals! We’re at one acceptance, two deferrals (LMU and Fordham), and one rejection. |
My 2024 was the year of the WL. With my 2026, it does sw the year of the deferral. ^there was so much press about ED being unfair that it’s likely why they defer a lot to RD, even some likely to get in RD with schools that use it judiciously. |
Similar, it’s dispiriting for sure |
| How could the other thread possibly be a duplicate if this was created afterwards |
Right there with you. We’re being deferred left and right from schools where stats were very comfortable. It’s disheartening! Our counselor says in RD, kid should absolutely get in as the application will actually be read, but I have to say I’m very skeptical. Gonna be a long few months. |

At our school too! A change from prior years. |
